Why's it an odd move? Makes sense to me. Warner is struggling, and so are the Giants.

Right makes as much sense now as it did earlier in the season. Im not sure i subscribe to the theory of sitting on the bench for a year watching and learning . Granted a rookie Qb is going to take his lumps and make mistakes. Peyton took his lumps w/the colts his first year and had dramatic improvement his 2nd season and he's argubly the best qb in the league .It certainly hasnt seemed to hurt rothesburger at all . I cant see where carson palmer's benifited from sitting a season in cin.

I love the idea personally, but I believe it's the wrong move. The giants are still in wild card contention. If the demote Warner now you don't know how good Eli is. He could be the best ever or he could the worst ever. I do agree that the Giants need to make a drastic move. The first thing the Giants need to do is repair there leaky line. Sign someone nice and see what happens. It can't be entirely Warners fault he's averaging 6 sacks a game over the last 4 games.I'm all for the move if it doesn't work out the Giant's can give the ball to Warner. Seems like the Giants have nothing to lose.

truth is the giants know its the norm for the chargers to have a high first round pick and since it looks like, barring a choke job again, they'll be playoff contenders the giants had to do their civic duty and tank the season.
seriously though, in the long run I think this move will help the giants because I think Eli will improve much more playing than he would sitting on the bench, or at least thats how it works in OOTP. |

We are right in the pack of 5-4 teams in the NFC. Let's throw the season away!

When Warner wasn't running for his life in the first half of the season, everything was fine. NOBODY can pass with as little time as Warner has had recently. Hes a pocket QB and there is no pocket for more than 1.5 seconds. As a diehard Giants fan, I dont like the move. If Manning gets hit as many times as Warner has, hes going to either get hurt or shellshocked, and maybe never be the same QB again

dont understand the move they are 5-4 with teams like the eagles, steelers, ravens to come.
Expect a "bad" second half for Eli with those good teams/defenses

Now's as good a time as ever, I suppose. Manning has to get his shot.
Warner hasn't been consistently effective, largely because he hasn't been able to consistently stay upright. People keep making a big deal of his holding onto the ball too long. I haven't seen every game, but I've caught several, and I'm not really sure what they expect Manning to do differently to handle the pressure. That last game, Warner was sacked 6 times, and on only two of them did it look like you could put any blame on the QB. Bottom line is that the Giants opponents are getting great pressure consistently without bothering to blitz. Drop 7 men into coverage on every play, and you'd expect to get some coverage sacks, especially with pass protection that crappy. The one thing the switch to Manning may very well help is how well the QB holds up over the course of the game. Warner's a mess by the end of these games. -Spielman |

Throwing the season away? Please! Warner takes more sacks than a 14-yaer-old at HyVee and Manning is, a Manning!!

Well the giants offensive line being what it is.The only thing giant fans can hope for is for eli to be a little more fleet of foot than warner.Granted i know knowbody will confuse manning with vick or mcnabb. but he's got to be a little more mobile than warner i would imagine.

Warner is a good quarterback and the real problem is the offensve line. I will be very surprised if Manning does anything other than spend a bunch of time on his back...

well i doubt manning will be to hesitant to get rid of the ballproblem w/rookie Q.B.'s is that they usually dont take the time to check all there options but who knows w/eli but i fully expect manning to like dargone said to spend a lot of time on his back. Then the giants had better draft offensive line help for him . Problem with that is didnt n.y send there #1 pick this year to S.D. in the manning deal?

There is nothing wrong with Warner. The guy has put up a very respectable QB rating with a horrendous offensive line. I can guarantee that Eli will do no better unless something changes up front first.
I just wonder why the Giants even got Warner in the first place if they're making this move right now? |

I don't know what to think with this move.
On the one hand, I'm excited to see if Eli has what it takes to be a big time QB in the big city. Of course, a leaky O-Line probably isn't going to help his cause, and more than likely can push his progress backwards. And on the other hand, the Giants are in playoff contention right now. Warner's biggest problem that I've seen this year is that he holds unto the ball too long, and he has a tendency to be reckless with the ball resulting in a large amount of fumbles. That being said, I think Warner is the Giants best chance of getting to the playoffs, and maybe even winning a game or two. All I know is this. The Giants better make a huge commitment to the run with Eli in there, or else it may get ugly. |
