Exactly. I'm not the biggest Auburn fan, trust me. I'm a Irish fan, but i find it hard not to have Auburn #1 in the country right now.

The league is overrated, they have a bunch of slightly above average teams, A league should be judged by the power of there heavyweight teams and in that area the SEC doesnt match up with the ACC or Big 12

Considering SEC vs. ACC (or any other major conference) games are rare during a season, bowl results are the only measurement of how teams of major conferences fare against one another. While teams change fairly dramatically from year to year, the "majority" of the teams in the bowls mentioned are in similar shape this year (Auburn is performing in much the same way LSU did last year). While every year can be drastically different and the bowl results could switch this year, the previous poster's claims that the SEC doesn't compare to the Big 12 or ACC isn't exactly steel reinforced. |

Well you either didn't read my post well enough or you dont know what a heavyweight team is.
Big 12- Oklahoma,Texas ACC- Miami, FSU SEC- Auburn ?? PAC-10 USC, Cal Yeah LSU beat OU, last year. this year LSU sucks, on top of the losses they have they should have never won the game against Troy, who??? Auburn beat Wisconsin last year, if you'd read the wisconsin thread you would see I said wisconsin wasnt good this year so what do I care that they lost last year Arkansas v Missouri, Purdue, Oklahoma state, who cares. Auburn and Georgia this year are the product of a down mediocre SEC. Auburn is a good team but not as good as people think, the league is weak and there non conference schedule is a joke, Louisiana Monroe, Louisiana Tech, The Citadel!! Georgia is an above average team that became the best in the east by default. Gators, Vols, LSU way down, Alabama is coming off probation so they aren't at full strength, South Carolina is average at best, and Vandy, Kentucky, Ole Miss,Arkansas, Miss st. just suck. If you could take FSU, Miami, OU, Texas, USC, Cal, Auburn, Georgia and put them in a league and let them all play each other the SEC teams would not finish with the best record, they would most likely be battling the PAC-10 teams for 3rd. The Big 12 and ACC schools would have the most success. |

Right now i agree that auburn is #3 in the land. But would argue had miami not been ravaged with injurys this season i think they would be #3 followed buy auburn. Somebody else said i think auburn is this years suprise team much like lsu last season .I cant justify ranking them over oaklahoma or usc.but im not the B.C.S. and evrybody has there opinion.

Absolutely Disagree
Auburn and USC are the two top schools. Both have been dominant. Oklahoma is fortunate to be undefeated.
Remember, this isn't the Nebraska of old. This Nebraska is an average D1 school at best.

I kind of like how far nebraska has fallen off the nat.championship map hell even the top 25. There becoming one of those schools that are in serious danger of becoming irelavent. Sort of like Notre dame and Penn st. schools that used be fixtures every year in the top 10.But i give props to nebraska for junking the option and trying to go with a more modern offense .

Final Score -- Oklahoma 30 .. Nebraska 3 ....
That said Oklahoma deserves the #2 ranking and a shot at the National Championship. The Big 12 is a tough conference but inconsistent play has hurt several of the teams this season. Start with the North Division == Missouri experienced QB and Backs but defense is down in experience. Colorado experienced QB and injuries messing up solid Backs but OOOOOOO the off field problems. Iowa State experienced coaching staff and the former Nebraska offensive coordinator whose philosophy matched the returning staff and talent. Kansas State experienced coaching staff and great running back but inexperience at QB and blending of JC players was difficult. Kansas just getting the talent level up and needed the breaks to go their way (check the offensive pass interference on Gordon which would have put Texas 3 scores down). Then Nebraska .. new QB, new coaches (for defense 3rd group of coaches in 3 seasons), new philsophies on offense and defense (talent not matching phil. changes so both needed to adapt and do best they can)... Inconsistent - from halfs in Baylor game, the Missouri game, and Texas Tech.. Next year the North will be back to expected Big 12 standards. Big 12 South .... Texas A&M experienced QB and stable staff even with new AD. .. Baylor improved but where do you get the wins ? ... Oklahoma State stable staff solid backs and experienced defense... .. Texas Tech great offense in place and staff is re-loading there but untill they play defense 4th or 5th in the South is all that can be expected. .. Texas experience QB talented Backs Big strong linemen a top recruiting class each year (don't know why they can not beat Oklahoma) but they have not finished some games. ... Oklahoma - a 6th year senior QB who was the Hiesman winner a year ago, a running back who is All-American, stable coaching staff, soild defense. Who is QB next year ? so the Big 12 has talent and will compete with any conference team for team... Want a current conference rating ---- Top 6 1. SEC 2. Big 12 3. ACC 4. Big 10 5. Big East 6. Pac 10

Update -
Auburn and Oklahoma are now tied for 2nd in the AP Poll, and Oklahoma is up by 2 points over Auburn in the Coaches Poll. The BCS Rankings should be real interesting this week.
