How do you keep from running out of player photos in a fictional league?

I am in year 11 of a fictional league...I intend to establish a 20 year league history before playing out most of the games.

I have just about used up LivnLegend's photopacks...about 1700 photos.

Does the game reuse player numbers after retirement or will it continue to create new numbers?

Any suggestions as to how I can get the most use of the photos?

I am already using Killebrew's sets in another league, so I can't use his to expand the number of photos.

Are there any other fictional photo sets available?

Is it possible to assign photos to only Major Leaguers and not for the Minor Leaguers? This would save a lot of photos.

My concern is the Hall of Fame photos. I don't want a HOF player to not have a picture. Can a photo be assigned after a player gets into the HOF?

Any ideas or knowledge would be appreciated.

I have asked the same question before. What I have done is used the real MLB players, LL's facepack, Killebrews facepack, and some others and I have a combined 5800 player photos. This will only last a few seasons so I will be using MLB 1990, 1991, 1992 player facepacks as well.

dont quote me on this but i think after some guys start to leave the league (retire, inj, etc.) their player number gets reused...if so that would make the same photo used again as well

Player IDs are reused by the game. Retired players are then assigned an ID starting with "r" instead of "p".

Here's some more photos your welcome to if you like them. I manipulted the images of real players so they couldn't be recognized.

This is the one thing keeping me from using facepacks. I generally sim fast so I always run out of photo's. I can see how great they are for 'slow' leagues, but they don't quite work for me.

And to respond to your other question, if you want a player to keep his photo after he retires, just rename it like an mlb photo (first_last.bmp) and they will keep the photo after they retire, or so I am led to believe.

So, if I am understanding this correctly the player loses his picture after he retires? I can understand if they have the same pic as someone else but the lose it competely (unless you name them)? I am cinfused.

it makes sense according to what sporr wrote - the p# becomes r# but the photos still use p#

Henry, thanks a bunch for the photos. It is much appreciated.

I am normally a slow player, but am simming this second fictional league to do a test on default player development and aging modifiers using the 6.03 patch to see if Markus tweaked it so that more young players will be productive major leaguers...and also to give this league some history...I've never done a league that way. But this really created a problem with the photos.

Thanks to all who have responded. You have been helpful.

I combined TigerFan, Killebrew and LivnLegend compilations and now have about 9000 photos.

I use TigerFan's for the early years and then use the modern photos for the later years.

Using real MLB players in my fictional league is fine...I don't know 95% of the players...only some of the famous ones. I probably won't use the famous ones.

This really adds to my game enjoyment and works well for me.

Three Cheers for TigerFan, Killebrew and LivnLegend.

Does anyone have copies of the zips Henry uploaded? The links don't work anymore. I'm having problems with running out of player photos - first time I've used facepacks in forever - and I want to get some more. I've downloaded a bunch and I've made lots of my own, but I can never seem to have enough.

I'd love to just make a big pool of about 30,000 and be done with it.

This face generator has become my friend, but I don't know if you'll be friends with it after 30,000 faces.

If you click on English across the top, that'll give you English instructions, and you can then select jersey style and colors. I never worry about the logo because for me, after cropping it down, the logo doesn't show.

To get a new face, just click on the Face Generator link over on the left.
