DFA - A nightmare for online leagues.
As much as I like this option, it has been a nightmare for me so far. In our last few sims since we upgraded to 6.10, twice we had to stop the sim because there were players that ran their 10 day max, having to use my own judgement on what to do with the players. Then when I do that, I fear that I might get an ear full from that GM.
Is there any way to cut through this?

This has been a nightmare in the two leagues I run too. I pretty much told my GM's if they are left there unattended they are released. I know this is going to anger some GM's but it's the only option I see at this point. I'd be glad to hear other peoples opinions on this.

HUGE pain in the ass! .. I increased the length of time each time has to assign the player(s) to 21 days. If they aren't assigned by then there is a 250K fine. If not assigned by the next sim, the player(s) are released. End of story, no excuses. .. Not much else we could do.

It would be nice if Markus gave us a choice on this option (hint hint). Perhaps a way to turn it on and off.

Why not just set your DFA period for your sim time plus 1 or 2 days? If the owner doesn't move the player before the next sim, release the player.

it works great for online league...
my commish does this and i think it will help you guys. we sim 7 days at a time and the set the waiver and DFA to 8 days. we are not allowed to put players in the waiver box in the game, if we want to place a player on waiver we have to post in the forum and the commish puts the player on waiver in the game himself...if we owners do it in the game we get a fine. owners than have 24 hour to claim waivers by replying in the forum... for DFA, we are allowed to place the player in the DFA box, but we also have to post in the forum, what are plan is for this player...we have to say in the forum iif we want him to clear waiver and send to minors or we want a release... if the DFA days expires , my commish will release the player... more explanation is here..front page http://www.actionpackedbaseballleague.com/phpnuke/ it really works well Last edited by jbmagic; 10-27-2004 at 12:29 AM. |

I don't think it should be a problem once everyone adjusts to it. Just let your owners know exactly how things will work if someone is left there and enforce it consistently.

I understand that if a player leaves someone on there, that they get released. The pain is actually HAVING to release them. Perhaps an option to "release all now" could pop up. That way you do not have to go team to team and release all of them.

I love how people are never happy. If there isn't anything to complain about then people would complain about not having anything to complain about! The problem seems to be that the owners who are leaving people in the DFA section are BAD owners. You should weed these people out and your leagues will all run much smoother. The problem is not the game, it is the people playing the game.

I kneo this is probably how its' supposed to work, but myself I have found that I wont have any place to put players that are signed to major league contracts except on the major league rosters. Very annoying if youre getting players and you want to test them in the minros before promoting.

You can send them down from the dfa after signing. The only problems should be if your 40 man is full or the player in question has enough service time to refuse the assignment. |
