Prime / Post-prime, begginer, How do they work?

When setting someone to Post-Prime ? How does this work?

Does the fighter have to be set to "active" or "retired" for this to work?

For ACTIVE fighters, it's basically just an indication of what stage he is at. For Oscar De La Hoya at MW, he is ACTIVE and set to POST PRIME, but the POST PRIME setting doesn't actually do anything.

For RETIRED fighters, it adjusts the hitter's ratings for the fight. So if you take Marvin Hagler and set his RETIRED record to POST PRIME, before each fight (and only for the fight) the game will adjust certain ratings. I don't know exactly which ones get adjusted (others might). The changes are just for the fight and are not "saved" in the fighter's record.

Why does each fighter have two separate career settings? What are they for? Someone has probably answered this, but I can't recall, and there are sure to be a few newbies who are puzzled by it.
