Even with schmucks like Pedro and Manny on the team, and even with the questionable fans in this forum, if the Red Sox win game 7 tomorrow, I will root for them to win the series. After the gutsy performance by Schilling tonight, the clutch hitting of Ortiz, the tenacity of Foulke, how can you not root for this team? To win back to back extra inning games after burning through your bullpen while getting stomped in game 3, and to still have enough in the tank to hold on to game 6 is just incredible.

I still am holding out hope that the Yankees can touch up Wakefield. With a rested Rivera, Gordon, et al, 6 quality innings from Brown is all they need. However, if the Sox pull off the miracle comeback, consider me a temporary Red Sox fan(for the first time in my life) rooting for them to win the series. They'll deserve it.

Credit goes to the Sox for being a team that is about playing to win. They have pitchers that give up their starts to help the team, pitch on zero days rest on back-to-back days, and attack hitters with little fear of who's holding the bat.

Johnny Damon's quote is exactly right. The guys are a bunch of idiots, but it fits them well. When I think Red Sox I think of gutsy guys that go out to the field and play hard all the time. They are about baseball and nothing else.

On the other side you have a media giant that has almost become a joke of itself. A team built on this perception of class and cash. A team that when it dire need of help can purchase it without working hard for it. So when the team is down, what else do you expect, but to see them take every at-bat with an arrogant approach as if everything were to be handed to them. The Yankees live and die by the homerun and in the last three games have done very little but swing for the fences (Harold Reynolds said it best).

The Red Sox deserve the series and after their amazing Game Four victory you could feel the momentum driving in their direction. The Yankees have seemed to "give up" without quitting. They just look like they believe they are suppose to win no matter how much effort they put into the game. You never see that attitude with the Sox. That should be commended.

As a Yankee fan, I don't think I could bring myself to root for the Red Sox. It just goes against every fiber in my body.

What has really amazed me and infused me yet again with "hope" in this series is that the Sox have won the last three games in what could probably be called "Yankee fashion." Its actually a bit confusing to accept that we have had some good breaks for a change.

That said, just another wonderful baseball series from these two clubs.

I agree with everything you've said (except I don't think Manny Ramirez is a schmuck). If the Sox win tonight, they truly deserve it, and I'll have no problem rooting for them to finally win a championship.

Been a Yankee fan all my life, but you absolutely have to give credit to Boston for turning this series from what seemed to be a laugher (with the Yanks up 3-0, 39 runs in the first three games) into probably the best post season series in history. Boston's team has just as much talent as the Yankees team and both teams have put up mind-boggling performances over the past 6 games (from the Yanks blasting Boston for 19 in game 3 to Ortiz hitting back to back walk-off hits in games 4 and 5...)

Not sure who I'd root for if they made it to the World Series over the Yanks... maybe Boston just so they can stop whining about curses and not winning since 1918. :-D

(BTW, I've never been one of those fans who has been so strictly 'pro-Yankees' that I've been blinded to how good some of the Boston teams have been. Boston has a talent-loaded team that has become almost a mirror image of the Yankees - with the exception being they are a lot more free-spirited rather than business-like. And the only problem I ever have with a Boston fan is when they try to use the excuse "Well, the Yanks just go out and buy players to win..." or "They only win because they spend so much cash..." It's an argument I don't buy from Red Sox fans. Granted, Steinbrenner spends mucho more bucks than anyone would ever dream of, but Boston's payroll is around $130 million, which is still no small amount by any stretch. And they were about $12 million from making that payroll close to $140 million - if they signed A-Rod in the offseason. If you're going to be a fan of the team, be a fan because you like the team, not because you dislike that team's rival...)

I don't see what is wrong with it, there are some very Questionable Fans in this forum. I point to the guy (and I know it isn't about football, but I am sure he is a Red Sox fan too) that claimed to know so much about Football that he knew the Patriots would go undefeated, but didn't even know the Super Bowl was in Jacksonville this year. I call that a questionable fan.

It's people from this forum that made me even hesitate about wanting to root for the Red Sox if they pull this out(and make it very tempting to ignore this forum if they do). You can't deny that there are some real "winners" in this forum. I'm not saying all Red Sox fans in this forum are questionable, so please don't get me wrong there. But, the ones that are here tend to make enough noise to make things VERY annoying, and are why I took a break from this forum in the first place.
