Next to the A, and AA players....I see a few of them have 2 green << next to thier names....what does this mean?
Also bonus question: In the team MATCHUPS screen before a game...I love the way the game compares head to head your lineups but I am concerned about how it comes up with certain teams having the 'EDGE' Is it based on talent?...based on current stats?.....I really couldnt find a consistent reasoning behind which players had the edge...ALot of times I would see the inferior player in the lineup have the EDGE over a signifigantly better player. Is it comparing the player verse player in the lineup numbers or Positions??? |

It means that the minor league coach thinks that they are ready to be promoted to the next level.

I still am confused about the team matchup section. I think it's based on the actual ratings of the position v. position players and not based on their current stats or even whether they are hot or cold. Too many times I've seen cold players or players with inferior season stats have the edge, and that includes comparing same position and same batting order players.

The fact the stats are not considered is not really a bad thing IMO, since those stats are generated based on the same (or nearly the same) player formula as the arrows and therefore may be better than average or worse than average completely due to the games built in randomness. That means the stats are still very important clues to a players true ability, but from what I have seen the scouting arrows are a much more accurate clue to real player ability. Also note that the arrows are unaffected by the quality of your coaches and scouts - they should show the same "suggestions" when you turn scouts/coaches on or off. |

SO let me get this straight....when I recieve an email stating that certain players are ready for the NEXT Jump in minor leagues....Is that different than the arrows that appear next to certain players names?
The reason I ask is because I saw about a total of about 15-20 arrows in my farm system combined ( A & AA ) but I only recieved about 2 to 3 emails stating that so & so is ready for a step up in the farm system. So this leaves me a bit confused. Is the email coming from the same coaches as the ones that are generating those green arrows? thanks PS...btw, I think the MATCHUP screen is flawed...the simple reason being, during a series, I noticed the prefered "EDGE" completely changed FROM my team, for one or two players, to the other team's favor EVEN THO the game PRIOR those particular players had some great at-bats while the players that the computer NOW favored (on the other team) did poorly the night before.....So I dont even beleive in it now. |

It seems certain stat levels will trigger the emails. I also think you get the same emails whether you have coaches on or not (another 'coaches - no coaches' issue perhaps). That would mean that the "scouting arrows" are a separate thing and not connected to your coaches email opinions, though remember they will often match since they are both looking at the same players - just a different formula I guess. Does anyone know if you get the same emails if you have minor league stats turned off? Again, I'd trust the arrows above the stats. An example from OOTP3 why I am convinced of this was if you placed a has-been 39 year old SP in the minors (with poor ratings and talent) he would usually tear up the A-level with awesome stats. The "scouting arrows" correctly placed him in A ball even though his stats would have indicated he was ready for AA/AAA or even the bigs. I guess the stat generation may not differentiate between player age, it just creates stats based on ratings while the scouting arrows appear to also consider player age. If that is accurate then to me that reason alone makes the arrows more dependable than basing those decisions on the stats alone. |

KilleBrew...thanks...rather confusing but I think I understand your points....
Let me now ask this, Do the Green Arrows on the Team Transaction screen always point inward toward the left? (indicating promotion up to the next minor league ) Have you or anyone else seen anything different, like perhaps maybe arrows ( red?) pointing to the right indicating suggested DEmotions to the lower minors for some ball players if they dont perform or are just too old, ect? I'm very curious about that......and/or emails that also suggest such demotions or suggested releasals of players? |

The red arrows will only point to the right and only in AA and AAA levels. You won't get a green arrow saying a player is ready for the MLB roster, and you also won't get a red arrow saying a player should be demoted from A ball . Likewise you won't see green or red arrows on the 25 man roster.
quote:
I'm very curious about that......and/or emails that also suggest such demotions or suggested releasals of players?

can't recall seeing demotion emails but maybe you'd only get them if you left a guy at the wrong level for a long time - not sure about that one. |
