Just read the OOTP article in the latest issue...
of FM and I'm very excited. All of the US minor leagues and various leagues from around the world will be in the game. You will also be able to create as many fictional leagues as you like. Split statistics for every player no matter what league they play in. The biggest change, which a lot of people will love, pitch by pitch mode! The screenshots look awesome and I'm way more excited for this game now than before. I've been a big fan of OOTP joining SI because I love FM, so it seems like a great idea to me. I know there have been several voices of concern about this joining so I certainly hope I'm right. From this small article it certainly looks like we have a great game in the making...

I've got over 150 minor league schedules typed up at the moment that could be used, not unlike how the majors have already been taken care of. ![]() Quote:

Did it say anything about the financial system, player movement AI, or an exportable stat database?

I'm sorry I even posted this thread now. It's just a small article, really nothing more than an interview. I was happy to read it and I certainly don't feel Markus was snubbing his core fans in any way...

Nothing more than an interview that loyal customers now have to pay to read.

Oh, I get it too but I disagree. I respect your opinions however, so we'll just have to agree to disagree about this. Perhaps SI would allow Markus to post the article here? I would be more than happy to scan it and post it, if that was allowed...

Doesn't make me happy. I'm just supposed to forgive the slight and be happy that Markus will grace us with some info and new screen shots because people complained loudly enough?!?
I realize I am in the minority (which, as far as I know may consist of 1 person), but the shoddy treatment we've received just doesn't sit too well with me. I understand this is just a game. I also understand the need to educate Europeans, but you don't do that by crapping on the people that have supported Markus from the beginning and made it possible for the game to be as successful as it is. You definitely don't make them pay for any news from the upcoming release. Also, again I know I'm only one person, but this game and future incarnations of it need a separate messageboard. I've tried going to SI numerous times the past 6 months. This game is almost an afterthought there and it's just not a place I am comfortable or willing to visit. I'm not going to go so far as to say I won't buy the game or any such nonesense, but I can guarantee I'll give some serious thought before I give Markus and/or SI any money. I was the guy that would buy OOTP the day it was released for the past 5 years, not anymore.

The Official Football Manager magazine carried a feature on the development of the game, as in the UK and Europe this is a popular magazine and we thought it would be of interest to our readers to know the kind of developments we've taken on. You have to remember that Sports Interactive is a company that inside 4 years has 4x the members of staff, we're no longer just 7 people working on a game .. and therefore the people that have bought our games so far like the fact that we show them what is going on within the studio. As for the game being an afterthought, given the fact that there is no information out about the game it has no coverage as such just yet. It has a page in our softography section, a link on the top right and one forum. Of course this will change, do you think that overnight we'll be running major baseball content when we've got no actual game information to back it up. Be realistic! Like everything, we grow these things organically. I am confident that our site, our forums and our community in general will be a place you'll want to spend time - give us a chance. I don't know your full reasoning for your final paragraph, all I do know is that you should give Sports Interactive a chance. I'm making it my mission to win guys like you over, let me know your reasons for being so unhappy. |

Personally (and I don't presume to speak for anyone else), I would like any news (or interviews) to be released here either at the same time or before they are released elsewhere. Also, please don't insult us by saying we can have all the news if we'd only subscribe to the magazine. Perhaps you should make the magazine subscription a part of the game's cost/release for the first year. Then those of us who would only read it for the OOTP news/updates could decide for ourselves if it was worth subscribing to. The blame isn't all with SI though. Markus has demonstrated an almost disinterest towards OOTP6 and it's customers the past year (when compared to his support of previous versions). I think that has soured several people and we get further frustrated when something as small as this article being published without any real news being posted here occurs. Obviously you need to run your business as you see fit, but you must realize the current MO is alienating current customers. I suppose it doesn't matter much because so what if a 10, 20, 50, or 100 fans abandon the game. You'll see the customer base increase much, much more than that. Afterall, it's all about selling the game to the most people possible.
