Whew! I thought this was another 'somebody died' thread.

Robin Ventura's retirement makes me feel old. I remember getting his Olympic card in the 88 Topps Traded set. Back then I thought he was related to Jesse Ventura. I mean, two guys with dimpled chins and the same last name! Had to be related, right?

Yeah I have his baseball card too. Doesn't make me feel old though.

I have fond memories of summers past and seeing the White Sox on I think WGN with Robin Ventura at third. I'll miss him.

Robin was class. Not a hall of famer, but one of the game's good guys and an underrated player.

18 career grand slams is just nuts!
Seeing no other names but Hall of Famers Gehrig, McCovey, and Murray at that level puts that in perspective.

The guy really took himself to the next level with the bases juiced, that is true.

ditto.

I also liked Robin Ventura, although I mixed him up with Chuck Knoblauch, for some reason.

I always kinda hoped Robin would end his career with the White Sox. With the third baseman the Sox have now (the piece of garbage known as Joe Crede), one really misses a defensive third baseman that was actually a producer offensively as well.
