Other Reality Baseball Needs Active Owners
Other Reality Baseball is about to enter its 10th season, and we're currently looking for 4 active owners. Experience is not a necessity, although its preferred. Mostly, what we want are owners who will be committed to being involved in the league. ORB is a writing league, with minimum participation requirements, and penalties for falling short and rewards for exceeding expectations. ORB is quasi-historical, with the player pool/draft pool using only actual MLB players. While we're still at 26 teams, we have split into 3 divisions/league and have a wild-card, which we've found (as with MLB) increases interest in the league down the stretch.
Interested? Then submit an application . Have questions? Drop me a line. We're looking forward to hearing from you!

It is a fun league and life got in the way of the four owners returnning. We are about to start the 1991 seasons, and there are a couple of contenders available.

The ORB is an outstanding historical league. Here is a quick look at the teams that are available:
Baltimore - The Orioles won the AL East in 1990, but came up short in the playoffs. The pitching staff is headed by Greg Booker (16-7 2.40) and young Greg Maddux (12-11 3.93). The hitting stars are Ellis Burks (.295 27 100) and Cal Ripkin (.313 19 75). Minnesota - The Twins were eliminated from the AL Wild Card race on the last day of the season. Kent Hrbek (.297 40 135), Kal Daniels (.314 32 133), and Juan Samuel (.290 33 103) power the second best offense in the ORB. Pittsburgh - The Pirates came in third in the NL Central. Fred McGriff (.274 37 138), Ken Caminiti (.312 19 97), and Joe Carter (.289 26 98) are mashers. The big winner on the pitching staff was middle reliever Luis Aquino (17-4 4.43). Milwaukee - The Brewers missed the playoffs in 1990, finishing third in the tough AL Central. John Fulgham (17-11 4.38) and Frank Tanana (17-8 3.02) led the pitching staff. The offense is built around veterans Robin Yount (.271 26 98) and Paul Molitor (.316 12 87).

We may have an owner for Milwaukee, and fortunately, Tanana retired in the off-season!
However, do to other time committments, the KC Royals have opened up. I wish I could put as much good stuff up about them as Ed did about the other 4 teams, however they have been cellar dwellars in the AL Central for some time and are still rebuilding.

I'd really like to see some new faces in this league. It's a great, enjoyable league...we just need some new blood in here to help bump the activity level up a bit.
If you love the 80's and 90's, join up now!

Hey folks, still plenty of room in this league. We're holding off starting the offseason before we fill our vacancies. Come on over.

This is a great league, featuring many of today's MLB stars in their younger days. The ORB is well run by a governing board, with very clear and consistent rules, and lots of nice add-on features. Get in now while you still can.

The Kansas City Royals are available in the ORB. They were a dismal 66-96 in 1990, but have a solid core of young hitters including Albert Belle, Robin Ventura, Luis Gonzalez, and Bo Jackson. They also have the 6th overall pick in the 1991 Rookie Draft. I wonder if Pudge Rodriguez will fall that far? The Royals have suffered 8 straight losing seasons. Do you have what it takes to turn around this franchise?

Right now they aren't one of the open teams. We've had several responses, and right now the most likely teams that are still open are Kansas City, Minnesota and Texas. Plans are being made to help out with Texas' dire financial straits. If you're still interested, post an application to the boards. Thanks!

We're getting close. By the end of today, we'll probably be down to having 1 team open (either KC, Minnesota or Texas, and most likely Texas). Still looking for applicants and vultures. What's a vulture? Check out the website and see

The only team left open is Texas. They were having financial problems, which were mostly rectified by selling off some players, and they just drafted Jim Thome in the 1st round of the draft. They will be a challenge for an owner, and they also have a lot of potential. Are you up to the task?

Bump.
Still need a strong GM to take over Texas. Want a challenge, with real 90's players? This league is fun! Come on over!
