New Basketball Game

There's a new developer tossing their hat in among the text-simulation developers. We've just released our first game, Desktop Dynasties Pro Basketball 2005. Check out the info on our website ....

Financial Model

Is the salary portion of the games modelled on the NBA current CBA or on a simplified model? I'm hoping there is an option for the latter.

I'm always for more sports sims to be on the market, so best wishes. I noticed that in your screenshots you don't have an in-game screen. What type of experience does the player have when it's actually being played out?

The salary handling follows the NBA model fairly closely. There is a salary cap, bird rights, salary matching in trades, etc.

This years version simply runs simulations on the games, so you can view box scores to determine what occured during the individual games. Our intention was to get the simulation engine and player progression set and basically come up with a challenging GM version of the game. The trade and free agency modules are among the most challenging that I've ever played. An in-game coaching module has been designed and will be implemented for next year.

Hope that answers your questions.

Oh, I should also say that there's an official online league using Desktop Dynasties Pro Basketball 2005 and we're definitely looking for owners!

One of the beta testers posted a NBA file with images on the forum.

The design includes a 2D engine for the in-game coaching module in the next version. A play-by-play log will definitely be part of this, as well, if not part of a patch released for this version.
