Need help getting OOTP league to start in 2005

I want to start a new league that begins in 2005, not 2004. But I don't know how to get it to do that.

I've downloaded Halofan's newest roster set, so all I have to do is export the rosters, move the free agents to the free agent area, and then import it. Then I'll have all the current FAs ready to go for the signing period.

I'm also ready to manually add in every player's 2004 stats using Pierre's Career Editor.

I've tried creating a new league that starts in 2005 (using the "Create Custom League" option on the game's main menu) and then move the player files from Halofan's roster set to the new league file, but that didn't work.

The whole problem is getting the OOTP league to start in 2005 instead of 2004.

Any ideas?

This is what I did for my League to start in 2005. I started with Halofan's roster and simmed the 2004 season. After 2004 was simmed I went back and edited all players so that their ratings and stats were close to their actual 2004 performance. Then I made sure all the real Free Agents were FA's in the game and started to play starting at that point. This is only a solution if you are willing to play out the future with the wrong 2004 stats for every player. Most will be very close and this is a way to start with Free Agency in 2005 until the real 2005 Roster sets are released.

That's a great idea.

But what if I use Pierre Career Editor to edit 2004 stats after they've already been logged by the game (from simming the 2004 season)? Will that work?

And if I open up the MVP/Cy Young/ROY/etc. files and put in the real-life winners, shouldn't that work as well?

I've been trying to put in the 2004 stats and start the league in 2005. But if I let the league sim 2004 and then edit the stats to make them correct, that would probably be a much easier option -- if it works.

I'll probably just sim a quick season and see if that works.

Thanks for the info!

By the way, I assume that when I sim the 2004 season, I should keep all of the teams under human control so the CPU doesn't make any trades and cuts/signings that would mess up the rosters.

DiMaggio...

While I applaud the effort to manually enter in everyone's stats; I highly discourage it (i did this last year for my roster set, very do-able but also very tedious!!!)

Send me an email; I have a better way for you to get started...

Thx!
