How do online leagues work?

I've looked around the website, the manual, and the forums for a rundown of how online leagues work, but haven't found anything. It seems to me that there are special challenges in running an online league. I understand one guy ("commissioner"?) does the simming and carries out every GM's orders (seems like a big job, BTW), but it seems there would arise difficulties in that special situations might happen during a sim. Say you sim a week of schedule every day. What happens if there are injuries during that period? Or if players need to come off the DL? And if you sim just one day at a time to let people handle these situations (and emails, etc), that would take forever.

If injuries occur during the sim, or if a player is ready to come off the DL during the sim, then the GM would take care of it after the sim has been completed, and after a new league file has been uploaded.

Okay, that makes sense. Far from ideal, but it makes sense!

There are basically two different kind of online leagues:
1. Fast paced leagues which simulate something like one month per week
2. Everyday sims which let you take control of your team

Personally I like fast paced leagues better because especially if you're stuck with a bad team it doesn't take forever until you compete again.

There's a section of this very message board entitled "OOTP FAQ". Funny enough, it contains a tutorial on online leagues....

Hm, it doesn't seem very funny to me.

But thanks.

Mark’s ‘funny’ comment was ironic, he didn’t mean that the FAQ has genuine billy-laugh humor.

Yes, and my "hm, it doesn't seem very funny to me" was likewise ironic, and thus your response is doubly (or perhaps trebly?) ironic.

Er...what?

But yeah, hopefully that link Mark provided you was helpful enough for you to get the basic gist of how online leagues work. They're not as complicated as you would first think.

It’s as if we’re fleeing irony while it repeats. Trochaic hexameter.
