Historical League Roster Set
Does anyone have any ideas for a historically accurate roster set? I'm looking to start a historical league down the road a bit here, and as I've researched the Lahman set, I've noticed that ammy's are generated for the ammy draft in the year they started playing in the bigs, not in the year they were drafted. I also noticed that most of these ammy's are major league ready. I'd like to have a league that is a little more historically accurate, especially with regard to when the ammy's are drafted, and what their ratings SHOULD be when first drafted (i.e. not major league ready in most cases) Are there any Historic Data Bases out there that more closely resembles what I'm looking for? Or do you have suggestions for a way to fix this in the Lahman set, without me editting in and out rookies every year?

Ankit's DB is what you're looking for. Do a search on the Mods Forum to find it,.

I got the ankit db, and simmed 1977. The ammy's generated for 78 we're still based on players who hit the bigs in 78, not players who were actually in that years ammy draft. And they all have pretty much big league ratings. Is there a way around this without editting all the incoming guys? Is there a db with guys in the ammy draft the year they actually appeared in the ammy draft and NOT the year they appeared in the bigs?

No. However ABL Old-School and my friends WSHB do offer this feature.

Shiba (link in sig) uses a custom database that the Commish developed, which imports players several years before they made their major league debut. Most of the draft pool are teenagers who require several years minor league development before being ready.

This brings up a great point...with the advent of the Ammy draft...it would be great to have a DB that is like Ankit's career up until, mid 60's?? Then have players come in at the time of their draft...which IIRC is a line IN Lahman's...is it not?
I wish I had more time, I would do it for sure |

I believe 65 was the first ammy draft. And yes, that would be awesome. It would save me the work I'm planning on doing now for this league
