Base-Ball Union 1909 Series set!

Andy Ubert's Boston Resolutes have won their third straight Federal League flag and head into the Union Series ready for their third straight Union Championship. This year, the Resolutes had the same stellar type record, but their Continental League foes, Daniel Stamey's St. Louis Haymakers had the same record!!

St. Louis won 10 of 17 meetings between these two behemoths and looks to take its first Union title in its second try.

This is a rematch of 1907 tilt that saw Boston take the series 5 games to 3.

Boston is lead by its stellar pitching staff of Addie Joss (27-17), Christy Mathewson (23-22), and Deacon Phillipe (23-8). The offense for the Resolutes is headed up by Socks Seybold, Sherry Magee, and Dan McGann.

St Louis' nine is led in pitching by Mordecai Brown (34-11) and Jim Pastorius (26-16) while the offense is spearheaded by Fred Clarke.

Boston placed first in both BA and ERA while St Louis had the 2nd best BA and 5th best staff ERA.

Looks to be a GREAT 9 game series with the first four games being simmed this Sunday!!

Expansion next season looks to make things even MORE exciting in 1910!!

Should be a good one! I gotta privately pull for my former squad from St. Louis, but both squads are certainly deserving.

Boston leades 2 games to 1 after 3 games as Addie Joss pitches a gem in Game 1.

Game 2 to St. Louis in an offensive struggle as Matty takes the loss.

Game 3, back in St. Louis, goes to Boston as Deacon Phillipe goes the distance in a 6-0 shutout.

Great series thusfar! Its a long way to 5 victories still, so it will stay interesting, I'm sure.

Boston takes two of the next three and leads 4 games to 2 with Addie Joss set to start Game 7 with Matty waiting for a possible Game 8 start.

On a side note, the Union welcomes the Louisville Triplets expansion owner, Dan Crowley and the Cleveland Imperials expansion owner, Rick Mayer!!
