No one likes Deadball Era???

Just curious here...

I run a league set in 1907 right now, and we are playing in the era associated with the year. as such, we are playing in the deadball era right now.

i have been trying to recruit new owners for some time now, and i am pretty much getting no where. ive had 3 openings for over a week or 2.

could it be that no one really looks over the online leagues forum? or does my league possibly not look appealing? or is it that ootp players simply arent sure of themselves as gms in an online league to handle the challenge of a deadball era league? OR could it be no one likes fictional leagues because you actually have to do scouting to see whos good?

Just trying to get a feel for what ootp players feel out there.

myself i dont really midn the era, as any league that i've seen that has done that ahs fianacials off

but i'm the exception not the rule

The deadball era was notoriously boring. Hence, why they call it the "deadball" era.

Leagues fill more slowly now than they used to, from my experience. Having the same team open for a week (or two teams, or three, or whatever) isn't very uncommon.

The more "famous" leagues probably have an easier time finding owners. A lot of people stay away from ones they don't know much about, since leagues open and close so quickly if you're not careful.

I'm confused on the "..fictional leagues... actually have to scout.." part of your post. Sure, the first year or two you can go by name value in MLB based leagues, but after that.. just because someone is named Chipper Jones doesn't mean he's gonna be good. Personally.. I evaluate players the same whether they're Albert Pujols or Mr. Fictional Joe Rezendis.

The "is it that ootp players simply arent sure of themselves as gms in an online league to handle the challenge of a deadball era league?" line was pretty transparent though. Just a tip.. the "You guys suck! Join my league!" line usually doesn't net very good owners. =)

Maybe it's just the format of fictional players with modern baseball teams?

that line wasnt meant as a "i think you guys suck, but join my league anyways. i purposely didnt give the league address because i wanted actual feedback.

and i have already had owners quit after a day or two because they said "oh i didnt know it was the deadball era, its too hard"

i wouldnt have said something like that if i couldnt back it up.

too hard? waht's so hard about it?! grab good pitching, high contact, and speed, poof, isntant winning team
