Need for "Designated for Assignment" Slot
Until last night, I really hadn't given the crys for this much thought, until ...
At the end of the regular season, I was proceeding to the playoffs. I tried to send my Sept callups back to the minors, but was unable to. They had to clear waivers first. 2 days later, playoffs started, and I couldn't continue because I had more than 25 men on my roster. I was forced to release a couple outright (those that had been claimed), and send a couple regular roster plays who still had option years down to squeeze everyone in. I was forced to play the entire first round of the playoffs with 3 minor leaguers on my team, including one too many MRs, and my platooning start-against-left-handers 3B had to sit out the Wild Card Series. Luckily, my opponent had no left-handed starters, and I only missed him in his PH/PR role ... the rest of the crew did a fine job, and we won the series 3-1. We do indeed need a designated-for-assignment slot. Alternatively, once we click "y" to the waiver confirmation question, the player should be removed from the 25-man, then once he is "Cleared", put on the AAA roster automatically and an Email sent notifying us of this (Something like "Joe TripleA has cleared waivers and assigned to AAA Notgoodenuff.").

Yes!
FYI: you could have just turned waivers and stuff off. |

Absolutely. I've had the same issue. I think the best fix is to send him down immediately but leave him on waivers until he clears.

Suggestion-box it, guys. There are actually several threads relating to this already, but the more support it gets, the better.

you could also edit in a day to day injury and throw him on the DL.

Also, regarding injuries in the playoffs, I had a pitcher out for a week, so after the first round, I had the choice to put him on the DL or keep him on the roster, as the game refused that I sent him to AAA (because he was injured). Result : I put him on the DL, but the 15 days were not over when I wanted to bring him back for the World Series.

I like ctorg`s method: turn waivers off momentarily so you can take the players off the roster but turn them back on immediately after that so they still have to pass through waivers. But a designated for assignment slot is needed, or at the very least a workaround like in the old EHM (hockey), where the player is actually on the minor league roster while on waivers.
But one thing I think I`ve seen is that players on AI teams have been able to send the players down right after the season ends without waiting three days, that is I`ve seen players on minor league rosters and "irrevocable" waivers at the same time. |

Well, I'm sure this thread has been around long enough for the Powers That Be to take notice. I kinda just thought one more trip through page 1 wouldn't hurt. So this is also a "bump" ...
