We Are The Show looking for active members

A little about our league....We Are The Show!

We are a fantasy-style baseball league. We currently use OOTP5 and will be using OOTP6 [if Markus heeds our request to bring back the old CSV] next season. We use last year's stats [2003], with every player edited painstainkingly to insure accuracy, along with the league stats. We are a 30 team replay league and we have replaced owners due to inactivity.

We sim EVERY day, one game at a time. What separates us from other leagues is that however a player does in MLB will dictate his stats for next season. We don't carry over his performance in the league from season to season, we will just use a new universe for 2004 and every season there after. Although OOTP is a wonderful game engine, we would rather have real stats incorporated each and every season.

We use a tiered-protection system where the better your team does, the less players you can protect. This insures that every season, your team has a chance. The poorer teams will have depth to protect, where the best teams will be woefully short in the depth category. We do not believe in dynasties, nor do we want them, so the league structure is designed to make it very difficult for teams to maintain a high level of play every season, and conversely, it is difficult to stay bad for long as well. We want 30 teams to have a realistic shot at the beginning of every season. The unprotected players go into a pool at the end of the season and are redrafted. We do not use financials, since they hinder trading and are redundant in our system, since the best teams can protect the least amount of players.

This system allows for an incredibly amount of activity in the league, in many different ways. Besides the normal trading you would expect in a league, teams are jockeying for position for this year AND next year. This is show by the fact that 67 games into the season, there have been 89 trades! The activity we have is phenomenal.

You will find that if you join our league, you will watch ESPN and root for your players like a regular fantasy league, with the best of OOTP thrown in, like defense, manager settings, etc.

We have redrafted from scratch, and the following teams are available, with a listing of a few of the better players on the team:

New York Yankees: Woody Williams, Kevin Appier, Jay Payton
Chicago Cubs: Vernon Wells, Trot Nixon, Livian Hernandez
Arizona Diamondbacks: Curt Schilling, Javier Vazquez, Rocco Baldelli, Carl Crawford
San Diego Padres: Angel Berroa, Jacque Jones, Kyle Lohse
San Francisco Giants: Barry Bonds, Bill Mueller, Preston Wilson, Miguel Batista

So if you are interested in a unique league that is very competitive, check us out at www.wearetheshow.com. We would love to have you if you can give this league 15 minutes a day. Thank you for your time in reading this, and we hope you like our league enough to join.

Add the Cardinals to the list. Dontrelle Willis, Andruw Jones, Al Leiter, Luis Gonzalez, to name a few.
