Suggestion
Let me first add a loud voice to the addition of the 10/5 rule in trading. I think adding that owuld close one of the loopholes that allow a GM to too easily build a dynasty be trading away the 34-35 4 star players for prospects. Could be tied to the player's rating in desire for a winner and loyalty, those are both already in the game so would it that difficult to implement this? Would be the single best addition to realistic trading in my opinion.
Now my idea/suggestion. Simpler form: A "career leaders" esque leaderboard divided by decades. So you can see who led the league in AVG, ERA, HR, Ks etc for each decade. Difficult form: Same thing but instead of having it seperated by decade, have it customizable. Basically I'd love this for analyzing how some players did within their era vis a vis Hall of Fame induction. The simpler form allows slightly more distinction, but if the difficult form could be done it would be awesome. As anyone knows its hard to climb up career leaderboards in league with many years of history. So this way I could look just at the span of a person's career and see how he ranked against his competition. Or, in another exmaple, say there was a player who had good, not great numbers for an average length career but had a great four year stretch somewhere in his career. Maybe I want to look just at that 4 year stretch and see just how much he dominated the league. Would be really useful. More HOF Induction options would be great too. Say, the ability the set a standard for each sep category, or a combo of categories. 4,000 Ks, 2,000 RBI, 1,000 SB, etc etc

to 10-5 rule and xtml reports ideas have been posted already, but continued support of them is great. Also, the idea behind breaking up leaderboards by decade would be pretty neat - I know I'd look at that report fairly often.
As for the 10-5 rule, the mechanics for implementing it are already in the game: it could use the same AI for agreeability as it does for free agency. Those random "I simply don't like your organizations" could simulate the "personal" reasons why players wouldn't want to be traded, as well (dislike players on the team, poor school system for their kids, etc). My only question would be at what point would the player refuse the trade - before it's submitted or after? It would be easier if it was a part of the trade screen, as it would save a good deal of time and trouble. Of course, in reality the refusal comes after the groundwork has been laid. Any thoughts on which is better?

I think it could be part of a trade screen and in the player's HTML page. For instance, there could be a listing that if a player has acquired 10/5 status he may be A) Open to be traded anywhere, B) Picky about being Traded, C) Refuses to be traded. If it's case A then the game doesn't have to worry about it, if it's C then same thing, you just make that player untradeable. B would be trickier, then I think what would work well would be this. Once you the player selected in your side of the trade menu and you go to pick a team to trade with, a popup would come up with whether or not your player would accept a trade to that team.
