1950 Cleveland Indians' Financial Data
I came across this info in a TSN article while I was searching for minor league schedules. I found it interesting and thought I'd post it here. You can find the full article in the Jan. 17, 1951, issue of The Sporting News. Note that the figures are not official figures, but were numbers reported to TSN from someone inside the club.
1950 Cleveland Indians - INCOME Code:
INCOME SOURCE Amount Pct. Total ticket sales 2,900,000 74.6 Cut from road receipts 337,000 8.7 Spring training ticket sales 80,000 2.1 Radio and television rights 250,000 6.4 Scorecards and sketchbooks 100,000 2.6 Concessions 180,000 4.6 Sale of players 40,000 1.0 ---------------------------------------------- TOTAL 3,887,000 100.0 Home attendance: 1,720,000 Away attendance: 1,200,000 1950 Cleveland Indians - EXPENSES Code:
EXPENSE TYPE Amount Pct. Payroll for active players and coaches 550,000 16.0 Scouting system 179,000 5.2 Police, ushers, ticket sellers, and ticket takers 169,000 4.9 Ground crew 38,000 1.1 Front office payroll 356,000 10.4 Dayona Beach, Fla., minor league training camp 67,000 2.0 Players' pension fund 12,000 0.4 Transportation cost 33,000 1.0 Buses and baggage 11,000 0.3 Hotels 58,000 1.7 Baseballs 6,000 0.2 Uniforms and cleaning 16,000 0.5 Medical care 10,000 0.3 Working agreements 33,000 1.0 Insurance 35,000 1.0 Tickets 27,000 0.8 Lighting and public address system 19,000 0.6 Telephones and telegrams 16,000 0.5 Federal and state payroll taxes 32,000 0.9 Player purchases 195,000 5.7 Promotion, advertising, and game entertainment 139,000 4.1 Tucson and California training expenses 77,000 2.2 General expenses including legal and auditing 66,000 1.9 Stadium rental 171,000 5.0 Interest payment on mortgages and debenture bonds 60,000 1.8 City and federal ticket tax 536,000 15.6 Ticket cut to visiting teams 516,000 15.1 ----------------------------------------------------- TOTAL 3,427,000 100.0 It's interesting to note how the Indians sent more money out from home game ticket sales than they got from their share of the attendance when visiting the other teams' parks. However, since they drew nearly 50% more fans at home than when on the road, that probably shouldn't be surprising. Anyway, hopefully this info will be food for thought when talk of revamping OOTP's financial system comes up... |

All others do not "react" with what's on the field, and I don't think there is a good way to model them. Perhaps leaving a lot of room for manual input or import would be the best, and we can just wait for someone to provide data packs.
