Arrow WAY too many lengthy hitting streaks...

I have noticed that in OOTP, it is nothing for many playres to have 10, 12 even 15 game hitting streaks going on at the same time, but it is very rare indeed for this to happen IRL....

Something that needs to be looked at closely during the next patch...

Well, your overall hitting may be a bit too good due to player ratings or engine setup to mimic real life completely accurately. IMO, there is nothing wrong with the hitting streaks in the game, but I've never examined them too closely. Do you have any kind of real life data to which you are comparing the OOTP results? I'm sure it's out there, but I've not seen numbers I can recall on how frequently hitting streaks of whatever length occur in MLB.

ESPN shows that for 2003 there were 36 hitting streaks of 15 games or more. When you consider that looking at the hitting streaks on the standings page, you aren't looking at different streaks every day, but a bunch of them run on and stay on the list for a week or so, I don't think there is anything wrong with the number of hitting streaks in the game. Seeing 3 hitting streaks in each league for 162 games does not mean there are hundreds of those hitting streaks, since the same ones stay there until they are snapped. That sentence and the previous one are redundant, I was just trying to say it better. I don't think it worked.

Lastly, I think DIPS prevents this from being an issue.

I have to agree and say that there is nothing wrong with the amount of hitting streaks in OOTP6.

Funny timing on this complaint - in our last sim we had a player break 56 - it's now 63 and counting. He's batted mostly leadoff for the best offense in the league. He gets about 4.4 AB per game, and his contact is 81 overall. He's only batting about .340 through the streak.

I don't have data to support this statement, but I would say that at any given point in the majors, there's at least 5-8 players on hitting streaks around 10 games. The thing is, ESPN doesn't really talk about a 10-game hitting streak because it's not THAT big of a deal.

I rarely (no more than three times a year) see 20 game hitting streaks in OOTP. This is realistic. I don't think I've ever seen a streak get to 30.

I think you just might be underestimating the frequency and length of real life hitting streaks.
