Why wouldn't he keep pitching? He obviously can still dominate hitters! No, he may not be able to catch up to Nolan Ryan in strikeouts, but I don't think 5000 is out of the question.

I'm sure part of it is because an awful lot of NL hitters have never faced him before and seen his stuff firsthand. Boston-Toronto-New York... all AL.

Eventually, NL hitters will figure out what/how he throws, then he'll be 'merely' be the pitcher he was with NYY.

5000?!?!?! That would be another 4 seasons at 200/yr. That would have him pitching until he's 45. I don't see that happening. Clemens was a very average pitcher the last two seasons. Just because he has had a resurgence this year doesn't make him Superman.

I've never seen Clemens pitch in person before. I'm hoping his turn comes up in the rotation when Houston comes to LA in July.

Then I hope the Dodgers carve him up like a Thansgiving turkey.

Actually, Clemens had a pretty good last two seasons with the Yanks and I think he can still go ATLEAST another 3 seasons.

I hate him now because he absolutely killed my Marlins yesterday. Also, because Brad Penny pitched so well, better than Clemens really until the 7th but he gets nothing for it.

Oh, and while the Marlins have seen Clemens before I don't think they've seen him enough to really be comfortable against him.

Clemens had an excellent season last year. WARP of 7.0. There's little surprise from this corner that he's doing well in the NL. A couple more seasons like that and he may cement a strong claim as the greatest pitcher ever.

I may have been a little conservative in calling his 2003 average, but it certainly wasn't excellent.

Clemens posted an ERA+ of 112 and a WHIP of 1.21. Neither of which are bad, but certainly wouldn't be considered outstanding either. His VORP was 37, which put him about 30th among major league starting pitchers. Again, not average but not exactly stellar.

Yeah, but his defense behind him in Houston is a huge improvement over the Skankees. That has to help, probably lowering the BABIP behind him to normal levels.

Same point I was going to make and he's been lights out at home too...5-0 with an ERA of 1.36.

Great to see him dominating like this and I hope he keeps it up...one of my favorite players ever as he was just getting started when I was old enough to "understand" baseball and it's stats while before I was just merely interested in watching great plays.
