OOTP on Virtual PC

Before the release some people were talking about giving OOTP a whirl on Virtual PC. Did anyone attempt this? (and the obvious follow up) how did it go?

Yes, I have a PC too, and yes, I've heard it all before, so you can leave your "Go buy a PC" +1 posts at home

IIRC...

OOTP works on Virtual PC.
Elicense does not - which kind of sinks you.

IMO we are best off abandoning that sinking ship that is Off Topic to the rats infesting it and just starting a whole new Baseball Forum from scratch.

So close, yet so far....somehow that makes it worse.

Well, I guess this is yet another reason to look forward to the end of 2005 and the actual retail version that will be coming out. Maybe there will even be a native mac version

Hopefully I can move all of my stuff to Linux....and be able to play OOTP. Now THAT would be great

OOTP6 works very well with Virtual PC and ELicence is not a problem.

Can you tell me what you did to get this to work? I tried it last night and the ootp executable keeps crashing on startup.

I'm running Connectix VPC 6.1 on OS X 10.3 with Windows 2000 as the guest os. What is your setup?

Hey JRP, you still out there? We're all waiting with baited breath (or at least us mac users) to see what you did to get OOTP to run under VPC. Please tell us your VPC version, windows OS version, etc.

Sorry for the delay. I use VP6 with WinXP Pro (never installed the microsoft 6.0.1 patch). Make sure everything is working right with XP (connecting to the net. etc). Install OOTP6, and follow the instructions.

The only version of OOTP I had trouble with was version 4 and even then I found a weird way to get it started and after that, I hardly ever quitted the game and instead I saved the PC State in Virtual PC. Never had any problems with ELicence . Just make sure XP connects to the web.

specs: emac 1.25ghb 768MB. use to run slower on ImacDV 450 mgh 384MB

email me if you need more details

Woot, now if we can only get eLicense to run on Linux!

Henry, you might want to save this information somewhere: someone is going to ask this question again. (And again, and again, and again...)
