I have a secret and I'm not telling...

Edit: my evil twin, BPS-lite, posted the message below. Please don't waste your time reading it. I leave the original wording of the post for all to see as part of my penance.

Quote:
Per request, Markus added the feature of teams acquiring players with financials turned off - this was a request.
Maybe I missing something, but I don't think the above was indicated as having been changed in the announcement of the 6.02/6.02a patch.

Really now: no manual, patchs issued that alter the game in significant ways without anyone being told about it at release time, ....

How's a guy supposed to play the game!

(Anticipated response by some: "Yawn, look at the board you dummy: all your questions can be answered there." Yada, yada, yada...)

Look at the 11th item in Markus' now stickied post on the 6.02a release which mentions FAs will be signed in financials-off leagues.

The manual is being worked on as mentioned in another sticky.

I cannot tell for sure if you are being sarcastic or not with the mysterious thread title, apparent complaints, anticipated response, smiley. What do you want to hear?

It was in the 6.02a patch notes. Hello! Anyone home?

Its amazing the lengths that some people will go to to sarcastically point out something, or the lack of something, and not even take the few minutes to actually inform themselves before going off on a rant......

This thread should be closed IMO for obvious reasons

My bad. I can't seem to read today--there it is in #11.

It was a totally self-contained thread with multiple ambiguities raising issues associated with our sad postmodern condition. The message either showed great sophistication or great confusion. You be the judge! (I vote for the latter).

Now hold the boat here: I made a mistake. I did not insult anyone (although people have come close to insulting me elsewhere and seem to do this to other people regularly).

Will some people next ask that the board be subjected to some purity requirement: anyone who says anything against the wonderous game OOTP will be excommunicated!

Is this like excommunication? Perhaps I can simply say something like 150 "Hail Marcus, full of great programming skill,..."

Exactly BPS. I am so sick of the attitude of people around here. You have every right to state your opinion and/or complain about the game. However, the crusaders of OOTP will jump all over you if you don't post something positive. It gets even worse if you don't have enough post counts. Someone like you and I would be really torn apart because we don't have 24 hours a day to post and up our count. I guess what I am trying to say is that you should just follow these simple rules for the OOTP boards:

1. Only post positive opinions about the game or you are subject to being flamed.
2. If you have a low post count don't expect to be taking seriously. After all, post counts are what matters most in life.

Ooooo - OOTP excommunication? Sounds interesting. Maybe we could have OOTP possession, too; "My keyboard has been taken over by the spirit of Henry...." j/k

Actually, guys, instead of feeling like you have to constrict your opinions, if someone starts flaming you just add them to your ignore list. You can do this by clicking on their name and selecting this option down at the bottom of their profile. In this case, however, I think some people were just having a bit of fun at your expense.

Don't get me wrong, there are moments when someone is deserving of flaming, but asking innocent questions IMO are not such examples. Just do yourself the favor of a search, because most likely the answer is in there and you won't have to wait for a response.

BPS,

I was simply saying the thread should be closed because you posed a rhetorical question in a sarcastic way (at least how I read it) when the answer you were looking for was posted as a sticky at the top of the board. You were wrong, you admitted it, what more discussion will there be on this thread besides a million other "It's on the sticky post" thread posts.

Normally, I stay out of questioning people's motives for posting, but frankly, I've noticed a lot of negativity and bickering in the past 24 hours since the patch has been released (about the manual, the slow down, the perceived lack of notification from development) I just felt that someone posting a sarcastic thread about a non issue should be closed so we can just move on and talk about baseball...maybe

I'm sorry if my post came off any other way.

Point well taken. But what drives people to think they have to respond to every (dumb) post? Your frustration is understandable, however. But my frustration is the many hours I've lost trying to figure out the game (and then there are the crashes).

Point also well taken. Luckily I have a hide as thick as a buffalo's. (Perhaps I also have the smarts--and fearlessness--of a buffalo as well; and you know what happened to them!)

However, putting someone on an ignore list just permits them to continue in their bullying behavior (out of my sight) which, frankly, bothers me. But--more to the point--seeing these bullying messages just gives me a chance to employ my rapier-like wit and talent for obfuscation (and up my message count so that I can gain the respect I so need in my near meaningless life).

BPS -

LOL. Bravo, my good man. Just remember to - every once in awhile - throw in the phrase "Have at thee, foul knave!"
