I just got home from the draft. There was a large crowd (over 14,000) there for the start, but most were gone by the start of the second round.

I didn't really know who many of the prospects were, but hopefully Ladd will be good for the Canes.

Bonk on the move twice. I would've expected the Canadien to acquire more in exchange for Mathieu Garon.

Say, Steve, that signature thingy rocks, eh?

I'm pretty happy about the Bonk move... I think the Canadien could have gotten another pick or prospect, but it's still a good move for them. Bonk will be a better fit in the new era Canadien then he was in Ottawa.

And yes, the sig thing rocks. I used to use MusicMatch, because the older WinAmp I found annoying. After seeing your sig, I downloaded the new V.5 Pro and immediatly unistalled MM... it's much better then the older versions.

Now wait the draft did have one HUGE surprise. The high school kid from MIN taken by Phoenix at #5 was a shocker to everyone, especially the kid. He's only a Junior and will go back to MIN for his senior year and then plans to attend Univ. Of Minn. We'll see if he's plans change but I would bet they don't. Word is he has a real tight family unit so he won't be able to get a big head.

Yes, but when will Ovechkin get arrested for being in a bar brawl like Padres #1 pick Matt Bush?

Dude, this is hockey... the only off-ice violence in high-level hockey is the US Olympic team of 1998 .

I don't like hockey. I was at a hockey match one time and a bird had found its way into the stands. A kid hit it with a magazine and it was flopping around under my seat.

Is was a bit surprised to see St. Louis go after Lalime, but for only a conditional fourth round pick, he was a good pick up for them...Wonder if Osgood will be back now. I don't like Ottawa going after Hasek now, well, actually I do, cause I hope he blows out his groin again and doesn't play and the Bruins win the division.

But, if there is a season next year, you can bet I'll be driving from Baltimore to DC to see the Caps and Ovechin.
