Delgado to join former teammate Green in L.A.?

ESPN Radio reported that Carlos Delgado was traded to the Dodgers last night, but both front offices are denying it. The trade supposedly was Delgado to L.A. for Encarnacion and prospect SP Brian Morris.

No way. Wrong.

I think it is still likely the Jays will trade Delgado and the Dodgers seem like a good fit but for Encarnacion and a pitcher who isn't even one of the Dodgers top 5 pitching prospects? In fact I have never heard of Brian Morris. Did they just make up that name?

No chance. Go back to ESPN and tell them to shut the hell up until they have something more realistic to report.

Is that their reasoning on why he left the game after his first at bat? I didn't even hear about an injury.

Delgado left the game because of a knee injury.

I expect he'll eventually be traded to the Dodgers. But I wouldn't expect it to happen for a while... and the price will be more than what was mentioned, I expect.

I didn't post it when I read this yesterday cause I knew it was wrong.

As well as the main clue of front offices denying it...

LL was right to not have heard of Brian Morris. Yes, they DID just make up the name. He doesn't exist. As well as not turning up in any searches, I figured maybe they just got the first name wrong, but as far as I can tell there's not a Morris in the entire Dodgers organization.

In fact, there are only two pitchers named Brian. Brian Falkenborg on the 51s, and Brian Steffek in Jacksonville. Neither of whom are very good prospects and both would require some hideous typos to make "Morris" out of their last name.

There's nothing to this. I'm amazed ESPN picked up this rumour as not is it only totally unfounded... it involves a player who doesn't exist. You'd think they'd check those things first.

Falkenborg has been pitching in the majors for a little while now, he's not great but not horrible either. Maybe Brian Morris though is just the famous 'player to be named.' They'll name some guy Brian Morris and trade him to the Jays at a later date.

I actually have heard something similar to this. I read that ESPN Radio reported Delgado for Encarnacion and a prospect, but the Dodgers propsect that was supposedly traded was James Loney.

Ya, I heard that one too. I think that occurred when people realized Morris doesn't exist, and had to put a real prospect in. Although I think Delgado had a good chance at eventually becoming a Dodger, there's nothing to this rumour.

I'm guessing this 'rumor' got started in the LA area.

That would make more sense from the Jays point of view, at least with Loney, but I can't see why Toronto would want Encarnacion. Actually I am not sure why any team would want Encarnacion, at least as a full time OF. His .270 OBP can't be thrilling any teams out there, especially a smart cookie like Ricciardi.

Regardless of the false rumor, I hope the Dodgers hang on to Loney.

Loney is the one bat in the Dodger's minor leagues that has really impressed me. He was phenominal this spring and I expect big things from him. I hope he stays. Maybe the Jays will take Joe Thurston instead.

The Dodgers have several "fake" prospects like Joe Thurston and Chin-Feng Chen but no teams are willing (or stupid enough) to get suckered into taking them in exchange for true talent. Instead teams focus in on Greg Miller, Edwin Jackson, James Loney and up until he was traded for Milton Bradley, Franklin Gutierrez whenever trade talks with the Dodgers develop.

Encarnacion has to be dealt, as it's apparently in his contract that he has to be dealt once every season, at least.

D'Angelo Jimenez has the same agent.
