Exclamation *** TB Patch 1.5 Public Beta ***

Dear boxing fans,

We've just completed a new version of Title Bout Championship Boxing. Here is what's new:

- updated fighter database (224 new and revised men & women fighter records)
- fighters.csv contains fighter's GUID now
- Warning message pops up when a fight with more than one repeats shall be started in the scheduler with "Update Records" set to Yes
- Added printing of titles & rankings
- Added printing of top 10 lists
- Fixed a bug which caused the scheduler to crash after editing the number of repeats of a bout
- Fixed minor issues which sometimes caused program crashes when starting a bout
- Used MS Visual C++ 7 (.NET) instead of MS Visual C++ 6

The last issue is the reason to start a public beta before releasing this version. I've made over 300 changes to the code to have it free of any compiler warnings with VC++7. This should bring an improved stability and compatibility. Don't worry, it have only been minor changes regarding variable types and so on - no changes to any game algorithms. So the question now is not whether the simulation is accurate or not. The question is just whether TB works stably on all computers out there.

Please give it a try, and give me feedback in this thread.

You'll find the setup file at http://www.ootpdevfiles.com/tb/publicbeta/tb1setup.exe

Cheers,
Andreas

I take it that if we download version 1.5... we DONT need to download the updated fighter files. Correct?

Hey Andreas,

After I downloaded version 1.5 beta, I tried to import the fighters that were included in the last updated fighter pack. I went to the fighter screen and clicked Import File, just like normal. I got the following error message: "The IStructSize member of the initialization structure for the corresponding common dialog box is invalid."

Just thought I would let you know. I tried over and over but kept getting the same thing.

Hm, that depends on what you want to do

With version 1.5, you will upload an updated DEFAULT database, so all NEW databases that you will create will use the latest-and-greatest fighter records. Your EXISTING databases will not be changed.

To import revised and new fighters into those existing databases you will have to import the updated fighter files into these databases manually as described in the corresponding thread.

Thank you very much, that's exactly what I've been looking for. I will post an updated setup file ASAP.

There is a new tb1.exe file available at http://www.ootpdevfiles.com/tb/publicbeta/tb1.exe

Just replace your tb1.exe version 1.5 with this one. Please let me know whether this fixes the Import Dialog problem.

Thanks in advance!

Great job adding the printing feature!
Some may not like it, but I like the fact that it's exported as an html file. Now we just need that feature so we can print the fighter's stats & history.

You can print the fighters stats & history using the button "Open as XML" on the fighter record screen.

TB opens the data as HTML file in your browser, which has a much better printing functionality than we could program. And beside that you can save it, send it, upload it and so on.

When I do "Open as XML" my browser (Opera) displays the output in an unreadable fasion. Do you know an alternate way to export the XML code to HTML?

hey bigtrouble,

I have heard some good things about Opera, how do you like it? What is the main difference between Opera and IE? I dont want to change the subject, but I thought I would pick your brain a little if you let me.

Andreas, what exactly do you do with this .exe file? Do you just simply put it into the Title Bout folder, overwriting the current TB1.exe file? Or do you just click on it when it's downloaded?

I clicked on it when it was downloaded, and it came up with 'Error Starting Program. A required .DLL file, ELICEN40.DLL, was not found.'

Can you help me please?

You have to put it in your TBCB folder, overwriting the old one. I did this, but still got the same error message. I wrote Andreas to tell him about it, so hopefully we will hear from him soon.

Looks like the new version doesn't support the dialog boxes for Windows prior to 2000/XP... I will find a work around. I will also upload a new version of the tb1.exe file which now has the following fixes and additions:

- fighters.csv contains fighter's GUID now
- Warning message pops up when a fight with more than one repeats shall be started in the scheduler with "Update Records" set to Yes
- Added printing of titles & rankings
- Added printing of top 10 lists
- Added Nations record screen
- Fixed: The count will be at normal speed now even with auto-continue on
- Fixed: Cover-Up strategy will be reset now to Normal between the rounds
- Fixed a bug which caused the scheduler to crash after editing number of repeats of a bout
- Fixed minor issues which sometimes caused program crashes when starting a bout

Will need 30 minutes. I will post it here when it's uploaded.

OK, the latest version is uploaded and available at http://www.ootpdevfiles.com/tb/publicbeta/tb1.exe

The Nationalities screen has no button in the main menu. You can open it with the small red triangle next to the field "Nationality" where it is used, for example in the fighter records screen.
The release version will have all the missing countries in the Nations table, so you don't need to enter them now.

After completing a tournament, clicking on OPEN LOG FILE caused a crash. I`m using Windows 98 , as you mentioned problems with earlier windows versions. I`m using yesterdays version not the one just posted .

Is there any assurance that if I install the new patch, I will not get crashes appearing (I have Windows ME and the current version works fine most of the time).

If I add this new .exe file will it affect any of the fighters I already have? I don't want to add any new guys just yet.

I'm happy for the guys that wanted it that they can print some stuff now. What about the title history page and the pictures for the championship belts?
