More Bench Clearing Brawl Chaos...

My 2004 Mets vs. Atlanta.

Second inning of what is turning into a Mets rout (7-0 and the Mets are still batting.)

CF Jim Edmonds hits a mammoth 2 run shot to put the Mets ahead by 7....then 2B Alfonso Soriano comes to bat. Reliever Ben Weber plunks him - the benches clear, then, as the ump tosses both batter and pitcher, the Mets send Brian Roberts out to pinch run. The Braves bring in Jay Witasick to pitch.

Unfortunately, THE GAME SHOWS WITASICK ALSO STANDING ON FIRST.

There's a number of reasons why this is wrong.

a) Jay Witasick is not on my team.

b) Jay Witasick should, by the immutable laws of physics, be in only one place at one time.

c) I would never pinch run Jay Witasick, even if I could - he's pretty slow.

I thought this issue was taken care of in 6.01???

Wow! A bench clearing brawl! I think I've only had that happen once. Back in OOTP5, that is.

Yay for brawls!!!

I remember way back in the good ol' days when I was playing a pencil and paper baseball league and a "friend's" team plunked a couple of my players in a game and wound up injuring them. Following the game, I picked up every mammoth power hitter (regardless of talent) that I could find, placed them on my major league roster, and then promptly put a quarter of his roster in the hospital the next day afer a brawl ensued. How I miss those days... *sigh*

The next step in the evolution of brawls would be to have multiple game suspensions....I would disregard the notion of having the ability of appealing the suspension in the design, at the outset, and just have the player face a 3 to 10 game suspension for regular players and a 5 to 11 day suspension for pitchers...
