HBP - a followup
I posted about this right after the game came out --- and after simming a full season, game by game, and into my second season, I still maintain that the HBP are exceptionally high.
Jeff Weaver has already hit 4 batter by the 6th inning in this game! And this isn't the only instance, in my league it's rather common. Anone else experiencing this? Or am I on crack? Folderol!

Have you checked the player ratings for this? I've not seen it so it maybe a "roster set" issue.

I think you can use the league totals to lower the amount of HBP.

I haven't seen anything too abnormal with HBP. Probably just a fluke.

Weaver average is 15 per 938 batters faced in real life.
The rating in OOTP6 is per 550 batters. Thus his rating should be about 9 in the game...not 15. The Hit Batter and Wild Pitch ratings in the game are probably set for Modern Day Baseball where they are higher than other eras. I use Baseball-Reference to get HB ratings. Keep in mind the game rating is per 550 batters faced...Baseball-Reference's average will range from 400-1100 batters faced. You have to adjust them for OOTPB. I just put in ratings for my alltime allstar league and found that the default ratings many times are 4 HB's and 4 WP's, which are high for 1950's baseball. At that time most pitchers range from 1-4 in each category. Today it is much higher. You can adjust this in league totals, too. I run tests in my league to set HBP ratings, which most of the time are not accurate in OOTPB defaults settings. If the individual leader is around 15 for being hit by a pitcher, then my totals are about right. |

I'm getting 2-3 HBP a game at times. I believe its averaging out to about 1.5 per game, which is a lot of bruises, I think. It hasn't been uncommon to have as many as 5 in a game.
I'm using the default league stuff--I haven't tweaked anything.
