Importing historical league crash
Sorry if this has been answered, I browsed and didn't find much on it.
Just downloaded the game and the database, when I try and import a historical league (I unzipped the file to the default directory, C:/stats), leaving everything at the default (no manager, year 1977), and the advanced options, it gives me the following error: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! Program: ...gram files\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP 6\OOTP6.exe Abnormal Program Termination Everything else seems to be working fine, although I haven't been playing for long. I'm running XP on an eMachine with a Celeron processor and 256 MB RAM, about 5 gigs on the hard drive. Thanks for any help. |

OK, check that, apparently now I can't play anything at all. Every time I try to start any league under any conditions it gives me the same error. It doesn't even start to create it, as soon as I press the create league button it crashes. I turned off 3d and sound options as well as downloaded and installed the latest DirectX. I have no screen savers running. Any help please.

Nothing resolved yet, maybe there is something common between our setups that might be a culprit? What are your complete system specs? - Dave - Admin, Beyondunreal.com Last edited by Eropel; 05-12-2004 at 10:39 PM. |

Have either of you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game in a totally different directory?

Hi Steve-
I've uninstalled and tried different directories and drives, still no luck. Is there another method I could use to debug this? I appreciate your help and would love to help nail this one. ![]() - Dave - Admin, Beyondunreal.com Last edited by Eropel; 05-12-2004 at 10:40 PM. |

I uninstalled and reinstalled to C:\ootp and, suddenly, it works! I've only loaded one league and haven't really started playing yet, but getting this far is a victory in itself. Maybe you should try that. If the problem arises again I'll post and let you know. Thanks for the help.

Well interesting...
I decided to really poke around the processes running in the backround and think I've found the problem. I run Kaspersky Antivirus but diasble it before playing games. In fact, I never leave it running in the backround and only fire it up when I need to run a scan. Sems that it leaves a process running in the backround even if you have the av program disabled. It's also a process you can't kill. I uninstalled Kaspersky and tried to run an import from 1914 and.. No crash! So for now at least things appear to be normal.- Dave - Admin, Beyondunreal.com |
