OOTP College Baseball

I am toying with the idea of starting a college baseball league using OOTP. Each traditional baseball power would have a roster of its alums that made the majors. Think about the possibilities: A USC pitching rotation that includes Seaver, Randy Johnson, Prior, Zito, Bill Lee. An Arizona State lineup with Reggie Jackson, Barry Bonds, Bob Horner, Sal Bando, Rick Monday, etc. Barry Larkin of Michigan would face Roger Clemens of Texas. Lou Boudreau would lead Illinois against Jackie Robinson and UCLA. All players would start as rookies and this league would run over several seasons.

My question to the OOTP community. Is it possible to set up a historical league to do this? If so, how? Thanks for your input.

You'd have to do all the research yourself to figure out who you'd want on your teams and then import the players individually from the database you'd like to use.

I've done much of the research and I realize that I would have to important each player individually. My question is can I set up a historical league with blank roster that I will fill with these players? Thanks again.

Would you really need to do historical, couldn't you just do custom?

Thanks for the idea, molarmite. I should have thought of that. It will take me some time, but I'm working on filling out the rosters. It took me about an hour tonight to set up Arizona State so it might be awhile before I'm actually ready to start spring training. It looks like I'll have two eight-team leagues to start with. More information to come.

For those who are interested here's an update: I've gotten five teams' rosters ready for play. The teams are Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA, USC and Stanford. Up next is Texas. I hope to have all the teams ready to go by the end of next week. Then I'll give some scouting reports and season previews on the dynasty thread before beginning the games.

Do Holy Cross. They have more major leaguers than many, many schools out there.

I've added Minnesota, Mississippi State, LSU, Miami and Illinois. Holy Cross is a strong possibility. I may also do a combined Ivy League team that would be pretty powerful.
