All Star Game Ideas (maybe an easy addition to a patch?)
If I recall correctly, I think there used to be two All-Star games in each season for a while. This gave me an idea:
I would like the option of playing an All-Star Series. Since the All-Star Break is 3 days, I am willing to suspend reality and let the AL and NL battle it out in a 3-game series each year. When I mean "Suspend Reality," I mean that fatigue doesn't figure into the series. Schilling can pitch the last game and then go again the next day without penalty. Add to this the AI should be the same as a regular season game since the managers are not under pressure to only let the starters go 2-3 innings, and they don't need to get every single player into 1 game. This approach to All-Star games would really add a lot of fun. I would love to review the three games and see the accumulated stats of a three game series, the story of a closer with 3 saves, the slugger with 4 HRs, 7 RBIs in a series, etc. I think this could really add a lot to the history of a league. Finally, I have not tried to figure out a way to get multiple allstar games into a season. Has anyone else tried anything similar?

Apparently, more than one All-Star Game can be put into the game if you import a schedule into OOTP that has more than one All-Star Game in the imported schedule.
At least that's what I recall reading from some folks who were testing out the game's schedule importer/exporter. |
