Moving from 15 day DL to 60 day DL

Is there a way to do this?

I need the room on my 40 man roster!

Activate him. Drag him from the DL to the roster he came off of. Then drag him back on the DL and click the 60-Day button. If he came off the 25-man, make room first. The guy you send down can come back right away.

I wish I could click on the guy on the 15-Day DL and somehow transfer him to the 60-Day without having to go through this.

Just think how real major leaguers players, managers, GM's and owners feel this happens.

Yes. He can be activated in v6 while still injured. I had this happen to my star pitcher, whom I'd lost for the season (in April, mind you). I put him on the 15-day before the patch came out, as I didn't know if I'd get him back. Once I got the 6.01 patch, I activated him and put him back on the 60-Day DL. When this happens he disappears from the 40-Man roster, as he should.

You should be able to transfer guys to the 60-day DL without having to activate them, and have their time spent on the 15-day DL count towards time on the 60-day. I believe that's how it really works. Of course, it would also be nice to be able to put guys on the DL retroactive to the last day they played.

Hmmm. Good point, ctorg -

the workaround detailed above would mean that someone would have to spend a minimum of 75 days on the DL.

I agree, the retroactive would be awesome for online leagues who may spend days on the roster after the injury before the sim ends.

Maybe that can be figured out.

i have a guy who went down with a 9 week injury in AAA. i put him on the 15 day dl. now, he dl stint is over, 7 weeks left in the injury so i wanted to move him to the 60 day dl to make room on the 40 man roster.

first, i discovered that i couldnt simply transfer him to the 60 day d/l. when i tried to take him off the 40 man roster, i couldnt because he's still listed as on the 15 day dl in the 40 man roster screen. in his player profile screen, his days left on dl is 0.

and when i just tried returning him to AAA, it says that he cant be demoted because he is injured.

now what? im kind of in a catch22. i guess i can release him. but something doesnt seem right here...is it supposed to work like this?

bump;

sorry guys, i was hoping someone could shed some insight into my aforementioned situation (see above). is there a way around it, is this a bug or intentional...

i havent made a roster move yet, but it seems like the only thing i can do is release this player if i want him off my 40 man roster. either that or wait til he's healthy.

Russian,

See my above post in this thread on how to move him from the 15 to the 60. Here's a quick summary:

1. Make room on the 25-man roster. Demote anyone who wouldn't need waivers by dragging him from the Active roster to AAA.
2. Activate the injured player from the 15-Day DL by dragging him from the DL to the active roster.
3. Place injured player on DL by dragging him from the Active roster and click the 60-Day Button. This will remove him from the 40-Man roster.
4. Promote the player you demoted in Step 1 by dragging him from AAA to the Active roster.
5. Adjust depth charts/pitching staff to accomodate the player you moved down and back up.

Yes, this is a workaround, and yes, he'll have essentially a 75-Day DL. The guy I did this with was lost for the season, so the double duty didn't bother me.

PS. I know most know how to drag properly, but I have seen a lot of posts lately about how to drag players around this screen (especially off waivers).

thanks eagles, that worked. i happened to have a guy claimed off waivers, so i moved the injured player to the 25 man roster, and back to the dl for a 60 day stint.

another vote for having a 15 to 60 day dl transfer function

You could also just edit the number of days the player has left on the DL. (Of course, if you are in Manager Mode, you would have to use the MM editing utility to do this. As for online leagues, I would think an owner could request that the commissioner make this move for them.)

I agree, however, that this should be implemented into the game itself. Instead of saying "Place this player on 60-day DL? (15-day DL otherwise)", the prompt should give you a choice of placing the player on either the 15-day, 60-day, or 90-day DL (which should be in the game, too!) And when a player is removed from the DL, a prompt should offer the option of either activating him or transfering him to another DL.

Oh, and by the way...

In the meantime, I wish Markus could change the prompt in an upcoming patch to say "Place this player on 15-day DL? (60-day DL otherwise)". On a couple of occasions, I've accidentally gone ahead and clicked YES at the prompt and had a guy with a 2-week injury stuck on the 60-day DL. At least if you accidentally put someone with a season-ending injury on the 15-day DL, it's easy to transfer him to the 60-day DL.

My method above doesn't require quitting OOTP to run the utility, reload OOTP and edit the injured player. Then you'd have to quit OOTP again, run the toggle again and then reload OOTP. My method above is far less time consuming. Plus it's not cheating, it's an in-game work around.

This was addressed in the 6.01 patch. Now, when you drag a player to the DL, a new box pops up. You can click the 15-Day DL button or the 60-Day DL button. Kinda like the red pill or the blue pill.

Done. See above answer.
