Quick strategy question
Pardon me for being naive, but could someone explain when it's best to guard the lines and when it's best to pull the corners in? I believe corners in is used to help turn a double play but I can't quite remember... Thanks!

If you have a speedy hitter up, you pull the corners in just on the chance he'll bunt. As for Guard the Lines, usually late in the game when you don't want to give up and extra base hit down the lines.

Don't bring in the corners for a double play -- it's an anti-bunt defense. "Normal" defense gives you the best chance of a double play as the game currently stands. I'll guard the lines if there's a man on first in a close game, especially with two outs. The runner will score on a double almost every time, but not on a single.

‘Corners in’ against a bunt.
‘Guard the lines’ to give up a single but prevent extra-base hits. |

^^^ What he said. And bring the whole infield in when just one run will lose the game.

What about "Outfield In"? I've never used this...

‘Outfield in’ if giving up a single or sac fly would lose the game. There’s no way to prevent a deep-hit sac fly, so you’re giving that up, to try to stop the single.
