Mesi's brain injury?
Anbody see that the Buffalo News reported yesterday that Mesi suffered a blood clot in the brain during the Jirov fight and was suspened from boxing by Nevada. HE now must prove that he is medically cleared to fight.
In response, today's edition has him denying that he had a blood clot and is vowing to keep training. Look's like he might have to Fight Tyson in China, they've been wanting him for years.

This is probably the fighter that Teddy Atlas was referring to a few weeks ago when he said a top heavywt fighter had a serious brain injury that could possibly kill him if he fights again. He pleaded on tv for his people to encourage he retires. adds up.

Thanks Erick I'm ashamed to say the fights friday started to wear me down so I went out . Mesi has gotta look at the risk/reward factor. I really don't believe that he's got what it takes and he really does need to consider another line of work. If not for his sake then the sake of the sport. We don't need another death that can be prevented.

Heres the latest info I could find...from the Boston Globe on Sunday.
Mesi injury His father says that bleeding on the brain was never mentioned after the Jirov fight...but his stance is not quite as positive as the previous few days.

Oh man, his manager wants Tyson next? I know it's maybe his last payday but talk about playing with fire. Mesi could become the next Ernie Schaaf against a murderous puncher. Tyson is shot, but he can still catch slow footed lunks with shaky defenses (Etienne, Savarese, Neilsen) . If it's just a concussion, well that's almost the same thing with the difference being bleeding (bruising) under the surface of the brain, as opposed to a subdural hematoma which is bleeding on the surface of the brain. Mesi should retire. No amount of money is worth a permanent debilitating injury. The guy is a franchise on the eastern seaboard. He should soak up some endorsement bucks and stick to watching boxing on TV and fishing.

Well said Cube, I don't think he was going anywhere anyway even though this may be the saddest HW era in boxing.
