Lightbulb Starting Pitchers in relief

I used a starting pitching in relief. He hadn't pitched in over 5 days. He threw about 10 pitches. I only used for one inning.

The next day I look and he is tired after throwing 10 pitches over a 5 day period.

Is there code in OOTP that says if you are a starting pitcher and you pitch in a game(relief or start), you will be tired the next day?

Thanks

I don't think I have *ever* seen a starter come in as relief and pitch the next day in the real world. If OOTP tries to prevent that, then good on it. Starters prepare differently than relief pitchers do.

That could be a problem for an historical sim, but not for anything current.

Tim Wakefield did it last year. When it happened they pointed to another instance not to far back in the past (not Wakefield), but I can't remember who it was now. So while rare, it's not impossible.

What is a starter in OOTP6? A guy with the starter tag? That can be easily changed to MR or CL. Does that change his fatigue pattern? I would HOPE that fatigue is based on their single numerical duration regardless of what they are tagged as. Wasn't this the whole point of going to one duration for all pitchers?

He was listed as a starter. I never planned on starting him. I wanted to use him in long relief. I guess I could change him to MR.

I was just wondering if OOTP forced all pitchers designated as a "Starter" to be tired the day after they pitch regardless of whether it is in relief or as a starter.

The AI does not change the classification of pitchers on its staff, so a middle reliever (pitching staff page) works 10 pitches, and can't work for two or three days if his player card still says starter. Most of the AI teams in my league were not affected, but one had three 'starters' on its relief staff. If you don't manually adjust this, the AI is at a big disadvantage. Hope this 'bug' gets fixed.

Is there any sort of proof that the AI treats players that are fatigued with the MR tag than if they are fatigued (or fatigue in general) with the SP tag?

If the starter coming in as a reliever pitches more than one inning, which I've done only once I think since OOTP6, he was alright for the next day. I think it was about 48 pitches 2 & 1/3 innings.

I *think* the Arizona Diamondbacks did it with Randy Johnson in the 2001 World Series.

I don't know how much effect a pitcher being tired has on his ratings . But I have used Tom Martin, and Gagne to get me 1 or 2 outs when tired. So just because a pitcher is fatigued don't be afraid to use him.
