PPH/Faceoff Update
Hi Everyone,
This is Jim Renshaw, Lead Designer/Developer of PowerPlay Hockey. I just wanted to let everyone know that we're just finishing Beta testing for Faceoff version 4, and preparing for production of the CDs, etc - which is my way of saying that's why I've been a bit absent from the board. Once we're at final release, I'll let everyone know. For those who wish to pick up a demo version of Faceoff, so you can get familiar with our engine (and what we hope you'll see is our ability to give you the BEST representation of a hockey game) - I'll be posting info in a couple of weeks as to where you can download a demo. For those who saw the original Faceoff, and haven't taken a look in a few years - you're in for some surprises! I'd just like to say that the postings I've seen so far are great! There have been a lot of excellent suggestions that we will be incorporating - just keep in mind that we may not get EVERYTHING in at first shot - it will be a work in progress as we move along. I'd like to thank everyone for all their enthusiasm so far. And as Joe said on the general board - if you are in Atlanta this weekend, please drop by - we would love to meet you. Thanks again! Jim |

I will also be eagerly awaiting the new demo, and I am really excited to hear that theres been major improvments over previous versions of Face-Off.
Once again, I truly hope the .400/Face-Off team can put together a top notch hockey sim!!!

Indeed. Great work. I'm hurting for some hockey...the season opener is getting nearer and nearer....
Joe, why the heck would DMB need our support? Are they short on money? Did they spend their billions?

I like DMB, they produce a good pop rock... but calling them the best band in the world is just too much. They're not THAT good really, what did they do to make music advance? I don't want to start a debate, I'm just saying that you might be pushing it a little

Well not really... because in MY opinion they are the best band in the world at the moment. Sure many bands before them were better but as I see it they are currently the best.
As for the term "pop rock" I really hate hearing that as it ties music in to the garbage that is "pop." I see the music they play, and bands like The Beatles, Doors, etc. as Rock. Harder/Louder stuff like Metallica, etc. is Hard Rock. Anyways... those are my opinions, some will have different opinions... its not my fault if mine are more correct. ![]() PS - The last comment was a joke. Thanks, Joe Canadian

To me The Beatles were pop rock, and I still consider them the best band ever (though not my favorite). Pop is only pejorative if you talk about commercial american garbage à la Cindy Lauper, Backstreet Boys and NKOTB, because british pop can be really good.
I think there's a difference between what is good and what you like. For example, the best band today objectively is probably Radiohead, even though it's not necessarily your favorite one. I really like the White Stripes, but I don't think it's really great music... see what I mean? If you said your favorite band was DMB than I wouldn't have a problem, but "the best" was hard to accept . Sorry if you took it as a personal attack, didn't mean to do anything of the kind...

The how did you come up with Radiohead being the "best" band? I'm guessing your opinion. Anyways who cares...

The best, yes... well they're the most critically acclaimed, the most original (yet interesting¸), the most influencial band around today.
They are one of my favorite bands, yes, but that's not why I say that objectively they are the best. Of course you don't have to take me seriously if you think all I say is bs.

Well basiclly I belive that the "best" band is a rather subjective term. These people who are music critics obviously hold the opinion that Radiohead is the "best" band. As far as being influencial... I'm not sure how influencial they really are????
Lets just agree to disagree.

Ummm, this is what happens when you turn off the post counter in the OT forum lol. I was just wondering if someone could get Jim a nice old beer eh for all his hard work. I think someone should also get him a admin title under his name for the forums, batboy just doesnt look good for someone giving the info he gives.
