Ignorant Programming Question/Interface
Just how difficult would it be to implement an interface with customization?
I lean very heavily toward the ignorant side of programming (okay, I don't know my arse from a hole in the ground about it), but a few fantasy sports league websites crossed my mind whereby you can customize your home page. Standings, transactions, etc can all be moved around the page as you want it. Is this out of the realm for OOTP and not even a possibility or could this be done? What would it take for a great deal of interface customization? Not worth the trouble?

You're talking about HTML (the "display" language of the web). The data all lies in a database somewhere and simply has to be outputted (perhaps going through XML first).
OOTP is a traditioal c++ program, meaning that the display is by default pretty much hardcoded. Adding flexibility has to generally be programmed in. Markus *could* go for a completely HTML interface, but I'd recommend against it. It has too many drawbacks to make up for a few benefits. having said that, what kind of "customization" are you looking for? Onnel |

It isn't the hardest thing in the world to do, but not the easiest either. It really depends on how the code is presently structured.

Most are from PBP issues and the PBP interface as has been discussed muchly the past few hours. If I'm not happy with the pbp text being on the left side, maybe I could move it to the center. Or move the field out. Or hide any feature you want. Options to toggle between a boxscore of out of town scores to a full rundown of all the scores from out of town. Or if the interface space doesn't permit maybe one league at a time. Or maybe a report could be generated just as boxscores are to show all out of town scores.
Asking too much I'm sure. But I just can't seem to get totally comfortable with the interface. I've tried. And I, like others on here, love the rule additions to the game but really am having trouble with the navigation in PBP.
