A couple of questions regarding the new association with SI Games

(1) Is this likely to mean a delay in the release of OOTP7?

(2) Is this going to have any impact on work with other games (specifically, another patch for ITP)?

(3) Please tell me this is the end of ELicense .

Markus stated in that thread that OOTP 7 would be out late in 2005.

At least, that's how we've been interpreting it. He doesn't say that outright. It says that the first SI version would be out then. That may be OOTP7 or it may be a version of OOTP7. I'm assuming that we will indeed have to wait.

How can you have a delay on a game that has not even been announced?

Actually, I take back what I said above. It looks like Markus did explicitly say OOTP7 wouldn't be out until Fall of 2005, but it's in that rather long thread that is forming.

What's wrong with eLicense? I like it.

e-license has been a godsend. All companies should at least make it an option.

dont get me wrong, becoming a part of SI will definitely be good for the game but I really hope that OOTP doesn't become MLB licenced and force to use the point system and jack up the price.

The purpose of eLicense is to protect the developer's investment - plain and simple. Without it, copies can be made and distributed to the multitude with only the first paid copy finding its way to the developers pocket. eLicenses provides two keys... thus ONLY two keys for each sale can be active at any given time. That limits the possible losses the developer will realize due to SW piracy.

I support the concept 100%.

Well okay, I'll defer to youse guys. As a dinosaur staring into the maw of the tech era--with deficient skills and facing a perpetually vertical learning curve--I am still more comfortable with the concept of physical product in hand. God knows Ive screwed up beaucoups times trying to jiggle various Windows programs, or innocently deleted a friggin' VITAL folder and needed the source program to regroup, and the only internet source at home is sluggy dial-up ( work is DSL but appearances must be maintained ), so...

Sorry to add noise without solution. I'll clam up and learn to adapt.

I think e-license is great.

No box to throw away. No CD to take up space in my house.

LOL Bplotkin has marked his calander for late 2005 for OOTP7. I guess he's just not happy unless he has something to whine about.

Im not sure what to think....

is SI going to make OOTP more like Mogus (real rosters, points, fluff), or is it strictly a marketing thing.

Is OOTP going to stop being supported like it does, or are we going to lose the patch's.....

Is OOTP7 going to come out in the fall, or spring with a SI release in fall....(id assume the earlier)

if the delay for 7 is true, are issues like the news section and PbP options going to be added in a patch?

All to be determined AT least give them some time to get used to their surroundings

I would suspect support will remain as it has - especially if this board remains, OOTP7? will be released "late in 2005", and I suspect a great many things will be added to that version

Most times a game joins a larger cooperation...it uh...changes (not normally for the better), OOTP may be different, but we've all said that a lot.

Another concern of mine, while it is far far away, OOTP6 leagues wont conver too OOTP7 (as it has been said that it is a far different code baes). Premature, yes..... but still...

I guess a lot depends on who is in charge of OOTP, SI and Markus say Markus will be in full control, however....again....we've heard that before too.
