In high-speed heaven...ready for OOTP6

I previously downloaded OOTP5 over a 56K modem and had held off getting a cable modem. I finally got tired of trying to download patches, rosters, picture packs, etc. with the 56K modem only to have the download stop on me in the middle of the night. Welcome high-speed access through my local cable company!! I had tried to download Draft Dodgers picture files (60+MB file). With the dial up it was downloading at around 3 kbps. I was glad to see my cable modem downloading at around 350 kbps (total download time of around 3.5 minutes). I can't wait to see how little time it takes to download OOTP6. I can't believe I waited this long.

My neighbor had a wireless connection. It was sweet that I could use my laptop to jump on the connection, download stuff, transfer it to a flash drive and upload to the desktop where OOTP lives. It's a process, but a free process. Until they secured the connection so I can't use it anymore. And then they moved, so it's back to the modem.

Maybe this is the reason why the game is taking so long. Markus finished the program last week but it's taking him this long to upload it onto the OOTP Developments web page.

Yes, but this was done from the comfort of my own home. I'd have to look how far away the nearest hot spot is.

Now when I need to DL something, I do it at work and save it to my flash drive. Pop that in my PC at home and it copies right over.

It's good to know that I'm not the only one still slogging away with a crummy dialup connection.
