Noob questions about amateur draft
The more I read about this game the more it intrigues me. The fact that this game will distinguish between high school draftees & college ones rocks!
Will the players drafted out of college also contain the names of the colleges they attended (Rice, Pepperdine, Miami, etc.) & their stats? Also, when is the draft held during the year? Will it be in early June like in MLB? Will there be hold-outs too (e.g. Bobby Hill, Travis Lee)? In other words, players that are represented by virtual Scott Boras types that won't consent to their clients signing unless they're paid 10 times what their clients are actually worth? If so, what will the status of those players be if they don't sign? Will they become free agents or re-enter the draft the following year? How are international players handled? Are they, as in real life, free agents that are not subject to the MLB draft? Is there a "draft-and-follow" option (e.g. Andy Pettitte)? Are there scouts in the game that advise you as to which players are more talented than others in the draft? Mucho questions, I know, but this game looks kick-a$$. Thanks in advance for any info

Yes, schools are named.
Time of year can be either(off-season is default). No holdouts.

Ok, I'll answer what I can.
1. The draft screenshot gives you the players college and stats. Will it be in the player card after they are drafted? Don't know. 2. You can choose either June or off-season to hold the amateur draft. 3. Holdouts? No word on this. 4. From what I know, all new players enter the draft. So you won't see a 28 year old Japanese star enter the Free Agent market. But, again, no word on this for sure. 5. There is a search tool and you can also place players in a "follow" tool. I forget the accurate OOTP term, but it's in there. 6. There are different scouts with different talents so that will have an affect on your decisions. But, the general manager acts as the scout, so you won't have 5 different scouts shouting at you. Just the one. |

If there's no holdouts and you can't sign the player, what happens? They just become a free agent?

Steve, YankeePride, thanks for the detailed info.
I can't wait to play this game!! It looks really intricate. I mean, if this much attention was paid to the amateur draft in this game, a feature which almost always gets overlooked in those crappy arcade-type baseball games, I can't wait to see what else this game contains. |

Please please please make the college names/states editable!
Also, will their last year of college/high school be save on their HTML file if you choose to. That would be a nice touch. |

Malleus, welcome back. You're "Christine" sounds like the lady here in H-town running her husband over in the Hilton parking lot.
