Blown Saves

Maybe i'm just out of the loop or something, but will Blown Saves ever be added as a stat? Am I blind and it's already there?
Grazi!

I wish holds and blown saves were tracked on the box score. The saves and win/loss record are shown here after the era, but not the bs or the h.

They do show that a hold was recorded, however they dont show the total to the right like the saves do.

You got nothin on me, I'm still bitter about the '97 series, and probably will be until the day I die.

I also never realized "blown saves" were tracked in OOTP.

Where is it?

I'd like to add my support to having Blown Saves renamed as Mesas.

They're there, but they're one of those stats that disappears after the season ends (in OOTP 4 at least). It would be kind of nice if there weren't any stats that disappeared after the season. Another thing that I wish I could look at from time to time are the expanded standings from past seasons, but that's another issue

I understand why you are well aware of the BS stat

Hey... i always wondered what are the exact rules of a "save" i originally thought that it was if you entered a game where your team was leading by 3 runs or less, and you finished the game without giving up the lead. But it seems (in my OOTP3 version, at least) like if you close the game, and pitch at least 3 innings, you get a save, no matter what your lead is... hrmmm...

blown save... Koch comes to mind also.

This is off the top of my head, but I think it's pretty accurate. There are three ways to record a save. All of them involve entering the game with your team ahead, not allowing the other team to come back to tie or go ahead, and finishing the game. The first way to record a save is simply to pitch three innings or more to finish the game, no matter how big the lead might be. This is fairly rare nowadays, since relievers don't generally throw three or more innings in an appearance anymore. The second way is to enter the game with a lead of three or fewer runs and pitch at least one inning. The third, and trickiest, way to record a save is to enter the game with a lead, but with the potential tying run either on base, at the plate, or on deck. If you enter the game this way, you only have to record the final out to get credit for a save. In other words, your team could be up 7-2 with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, but if you enter the game with the bases loaded (which would put the potential fifth run on deck) you could get credit for a save.

If someone wants to search Talk Sports, theres a couple of good Save Rules threads.

I think it came up after that A's pitcher was credited with a "save" last year in a 15-1 or something win.
