OOTP6 H2H league idea, what do you think?
I've been refining this idea about war and baseball over on the online site and was thinking that maybe it should be a head 2 head league. Posted below are the rules. Let me know what you think and if it should be a H2H or sim or a combination of both. I like the H2H idea because the season is relatively short.
In this land, war is everything. There has never been anything but war. But in this land, war is decided by bats and balls, not guns and tanks. A year is considered as the time from the initial draft to when there is only one team left standing. We will utilize fictional players. We will use modern day stats. Initial setup will have a full draft to select players. There will be a rookie draft each year during June. Trading will only be allowed for one week (Real time) between the end of the initial draft and the beginning of conflict. Once Conflict has begun, no more trading of players is allowed. Each team name will consist of a team name and a nickname. There will be no use of geographic locations in a team name. You may use your last name, or anything else for that matter as your team name. Your nickname can be anything. As an example, team name: Mach Nickname: Speeders. Together: Mach Speeders Each team will be randomly provided a country as their beginning base of operations. Each year there will be an initial draft. Each year your team will be randomly provided a country. CONFLICT The object of the conflict is to completely annex a country. Before Conflict begins, each team will select a country to attack. (You select the country to attack by emailing the commissioner.) You may only attack a neighboring country. Each country has between 3 and 5 neighboring countries. Order of attack is determined randomly. Each country has 4 levels of defense. Once those 4 levels have been breached, the country falls to the attacker. Levels are gained by winning the battle. Once Conflict begins, each battle will consist of 7 games. By winning 4 games to 3, you obtain one level inside the other country. Winning 5 games to 2, you obtain 2 levels inside the other country. Winning 6 games to 1, you obtain 3 levels. Sweeping all 7 games means you obtain all 4 levels and have annexed that country. The winning team takes prisoners(players). How many prisoners are taken in each battle is determined by the amount of wins you get in the battle. 4 wins=1 prisoner 5 wins=2 prisoners 6 wins=3 prisoners 7 wins=5 prisoners (A bonus for sweeping) A round consists of every team attacking. An attack is defined as your attempt to enter someone else's country. Defending your country is not counted as an attack. So in the first round, there will be 32 battles. Not every team will play the same amount of battles in each round. It is at the end of the round when you will collect your prisoners. There will be a three day(real time) wait between rounds so prisoners can be assimilated into their new teams and teams losing players can replace them with others. Tentatively I will sim on Tuesday's and Saturday's. Each sim will consist of one round. Rounds will continue until there is only one team standing. Once a champion has been crowned, there will be a week pause to catch your breath, vote on any refinements that need to be addressed and to list your Keepers. Keepers are defined as players you may keep from one year to the next. At the end of the each year, you may select 10 keepers under the age of 25. You may select 5 players 25 years of age or over as Keepers. Only 1 of those keepers may be a prisoner of war. All rules can be changed, added to, or removed by a vote from the GM's.
