New Real Players League Forming

OOTP-Land,

I have finally decided to leave behind the dreck of OOTP Online League ownership and ascend to the the prestigious ranks of a League Commissioner. Real player leagues have always been my favorite, as you can control your favorite players and teams as if you were a real major league GM, so I certainly wanted to start a real player league!!!

I have wanted to start my own league for some time, and with OOTP6 on the horizon, I think now is a great time. We will start out with OOTP5, but will move to OOTP6 as soon as possible.

Now I don't yet have a name for the league, a website, a message board, or a rules page, but you can trust me, this league is gonna rock!!!!1 We may contract a couple of teams, or we may even have some expansion. We may have a player draft, or we may just run with the original teams. It pretty much depends on how I feel when I'm creating the original league file.

We will be using the MLB Saberosters put out by draven, mats & co. I'm not sure when the projected release date for that roster set is, but we will wait until it's complete to start the league, whether it's a week or a year. This roster set will be wicked cool, and will include all of the top spects of every organization.

The only stipulation that I have is that you have to be willing to quit all of the other leagues you are in when you join mine. I want everybody to be able to put as much time and effort as I am going to put into it. I really think it helps keep your focus on a league when it is the only one that you are in.

Also, if you could e-mail me your Order ID for OOTP5 and OOTP6 as soon as you get it, I would certainly appreciate it. I don't want to have to pay for a website, so getting enough ID's to get on the OOTP Server is essential.

Please post your interest and contact info in this thread. I will not be taking applications, and will pretty much assign spots at random, but special deference will be given to those with AOL addresses (I am a big supporter and own stock in AOL) and especially those with e-mail addresses containing their favorite player's name.

Any questions should also be posted here in this thread. Thanks for your time.

I would really like to give you the Braves, but I am clearly prohibited to do so by Article 1 of the Commissioner's Conduct Code & Covenant that I had to sign before posting about my league:

I have no trouble dropping my other leagues if it means being in the BEST league out there!

I want the Dodgers but only if Gagne has ratings of 10 across the board. Some roster sets rate him too low. Also, the Dodgers did not hit very well last season and since I think that was an aberration, if they hit better this year, I'd like the opportunity to raise their hitting ratings throughout the sim season to more closely match their real life counterparts.

Hey, can I be the Assistant League Commissioner? If so, I'll make sure EVERY owner signs on to AIM at least once a night for mandatory trade talks or we will kick them out of the league!!1

Definetly - I here that OOTP's 'Gagne 3-run homer' flaw is often almost totally ignored by roster set makes.

You're in as Assistant Commish. But let me make this clear to everyone right now. LivnLegend will not be running the sims, nor will he be allowed anywhere near the league file. I know he has the reputation as a bad commish and a chet, so I want to be up front about that.

All he will be in charge of is making sure the player ratings get updated daily, depending on how the player did the day before, and he will be in charge of reviewing and approving all trades in the league. But that's all, he won't be simming.

I've noticed that Gagne thing before, too. He always seems to give up BACK-TO-BACK home runs in the ninth-inning. Feel free to edit any other player's ratings and/or salary to what you see fit.

That's it - it was BACK-to-BACK, not 3-run shots. Was there not a hidden rating that controlled it?

Anyway, I'd be interested in taking any team, but I'd really like to take a bad team, try and fix them up, fail, trade away all their prospects and draft picks, and then bugger off, before re-registering as another team. Oh, and obviously, Dog wants to play too.

I'm not sure about your brother, though. You're gonna have to give me a little more proof that he's real, like a middle-school ID or a note from your mom or such.
