Small league file
Don't laugh, but this is a small little batch file I wrote that will take your league file and zip it for upload to your server. It only zips up the changed files, so your league file should remain small at all times.
You will need winzip 9.0 and winzip command line support add-on. You can get them free from www.winzip.com. The instructions will be a little detailed because I am new and I see a lot of new people asking a lot of the same questions. Here goes: 1. Start a new text document in notepad. Cut and paste the following: cd\ erase c:"\Program Files\OOTP Developments\OOTP5\yourleague.lg\expimp\*.*" erase c:"\Documents and Settings\user\Desktop\yourleague.zip" "\Program Files\WinZip\wzzip" -yp -i -ex -r -p c:"\Documents and Settings\user\Desktop\yourleague.zip" c:"\Program Files\OOTP Developments\OOTP5\yourleague.lg\" 2. This assumes your files are installed in the default directory, and don't forget to change your league file name. You may have to edit your paths [my hard drive is partitioned, I don't know the default desktop pathway, LOL]. This should install on most people's desktop, but you can install anywhere you want. 3. This will erase your current league file [back it up before you try it the first time] so you don't upload the wrong file. 4. What this will do is erase your imported league files, zip up only your archived files, compress them at max compression, and reset the attributes of the files in your league folder while maintaining league folders. The zipped league file will then be placed on your desktop. The next time you sim and create your league folder, it will only zip the archived files, not the unarchived, so after your initial upload to start the season, your files will be smaller for upload and download. 5. That's it! Make sure the pathways are correct and the league name is correct, and save the file as whateveryouwanttocallit.bat. Then run this *.bat file after you sim and generate reports but before you upload. Like I said, simple and for newbies like me. Don't laugh. LOL! Special thanks to CommishJoe for taking a lot of time to help me with my league set up questions when I asked for only 10 minutes, and saw it stretch into about an hour. By the way [shameless plug], there are still league openings in We Are The Show!. If you or someone you know is interested, please visit www.wearetheshow.com. gom
