Most historically accurate player database?

Ok guys, I'm not necessarily looking for the one that can repeat history perfectly but with Lahman's Database, once I hit around 1920 I have guys that hit like .430-.450 regularly over a 7 or 8 year period and it annoys me lol. Can you guys give me some recommendations of good databases and some things to do to make sure that it's statistically accurate to what the time period was like. Also, if there is a way to incorporate Negro League players into MLB? For example, I'd like Satchel Paige to pitch against the great hitters of that era and I would like to be able to import him at an age where if he wasn't African American he would have been playing in the big leagues.

Thanks in advance for any help

I just use Ankits database but whatever you use i think its gonna be up to you to keep an eye on your league. I dont think theres one database that is always going to stay accurate to the time period unless you make adjustments to the era and league totals settings. And other things like the amount of teams and schedule can effect your total stats.

I just try not to have unbeleivable stats like a guy hitting 60 homers in 1906 but i dont get too particular on overall league stats. My thinking is after a pitcher throws the first pitch in your league's history let history make its own path. For me i found it best to just adjust after an expansion year and only rarely if i have way too many of a certain stat. But i dont care to look at each year and compare it to real life cause its like comparing apples and oranges. Theres too many factors that could make your league have better hitting or pitching.

You can adjust your league totals and that should lower your players hitting .450 so much but then that could effect scoring in your league which in turn effects pitchers ERA. So thats why after i run some test seasons and get a good setting that i like, i leave the totals alone.

I dont know if Negro Leagues would be good to use or not. Because its more opinion. Theres no way to prove how accurate the stats are. We could say Cool Papa Bell batted . but is it really as good as Hornsby. Wasall the pitching as good as Satchel or was he just an exception. What about the umpires, were they as good as the Majors? We simply dont know for sure so its gonna end up being more of an opinion, but i beleive there is a database
for the Negro Leagues but i think the stats for Negro leagues are like just taking Babe Ruth's best season i dont think it reflects the ability of negro league players very well. It might be better to look at Josh Gibson's stats and maybe adjust them to a major league player like him or lower his stats by 1/3 or so.

I think Ankit's career totals database produces the most accurate results but as the other person said for best accuracy you're going to have to do some diting. There is a Negro League database but frankly it isn't very good. IThere are a lot of sites on the web that will give you a good idea of negro leaguers ability compared to major leaguers. So I find it easier to just create them in the game. There are also several good books on the subject. Two links that will probably help you:

http://www.i9s.org/

Is a great site for the earlier negro leaguers, Gives specific compoarisons and projected stats.

http://simrc.net/ubl/

Is an OOTP league that uses Negro League as well as major league players. I am currently creating the Negro League rookies for this league and do my best to make them accurate as possible. We are in 1932 now so if you download the league file that will give you some Negro Leaguers from that period.
