Bobby Crosby or Hee Seop Choi?
I made this trade in a Scoresheet Baseball league. Seemed pretty straight up, with both players with a decent amount of question marks. Both are signed for this season and next for cheap contracts at exactly the same price.
So, who got the better of the deal? Both teams traded depth for need positions.

Crosby....I loved Hee Seop while he was with Chicago, but he trailed off after his concussion in June. Crosby also can play a few positions, right?

Just so everyone knows, it isn't an OOTP league. This is a fantasy league run by Scoresheet Baseball.
So we're talking real life here, guys.

choi has superstar potential- crosby is more likely to end up as a good, but not great, player.

Who else do you have at 1B and SS and what are your starting lineup requirements?

I'd go with Choi as well, if you get points for BB.

![]() Anyway... I'd go with Choi. I think the concussion was precisely why he fell off last year. Given a fresh start this season, I think he will do good things. |

For what its worth, John Sickels (author of The Baseball Prospect Book, 2004) has Bobby Crosby pegged as an "A" quality prospect. He only designated about 9 current minor league players with that lofty label.
Other "A" prospects include: rhp Zach Greinke, KC c Joe Mauer, MIN rhp Ryan Wagner, CIN rhp Edwin Jackson, LAN 1b Justin Morneau, MIN 2b Rickie Weeks, MIL ss BJ Upton, TB 1b Casey Kotchman, ANA |

It depends, what categories are counted in your league?

Does Choi have a smaller margin of error because Jeff Conine is around?

I'd go with Bing Crosby. Choi just can't hit the low notes.

So, statistics are good, but only those that are not directly related to the real life team around them. Things like batting average and home runs are good, but a guy who gets 120 RBI during season is worth the same as someone who gets 45 RBI, if all other statistics are the same. Defense plays a role as well. Each player has a range number that makes them above or below average at their position, plus the errors the player makes are reflected in the end results. For more background on the trade, I traded Crosby because I had Alex Cintron and Jose Reyes already on the roster, but only had Jason Stokes at the 1B position (the draft is still to come, and I have cap room). The team I traded him to had no shortstops, but had Travis Hafner already at first (and also has cap room), so Choi was expendable.
