Can I put Corey Koskie in the HOF?

Can I justify putting Corey Koskie in the Hall of Fame? Keep in mind, despite wining only one gold glove, he had an "A" range rating and .968 FLD Percentage. 3rd isn't the greastes hitting position and before his last two years he was at .292/.397/.479. 800+ OPS 11 straight years. Also, a DH hasn't been used since the 2002 season making the league somewhat favor pitchers. Typical AL line has has usually been about .270/.340/.440. It's a solo league.

It's YOUR league. Do whatever you want. What were his career stats and how do they compare to other HOF's? How many All-Star appearances and leaderboard appearances and was he ever the best player and his position in the league?

1620 career hits = no, unless he did it over a course of eight years of super stardom before getting hurt.

Which he didn't.

But it is your league.

Well.. it is your league so you can do whatever you please. But IMHO, I don't see why you would even consider the player for a HOF plaque. A little over 200 HRs.. under a .290 career ba... 1 gold glove.. and looks like only 1 AS appearance... decent player.. but HOF worthy? I say hell no

I can only imagine how many players your HOF will have if this is what it takes to get in.

Even with the dip in AL Stats, Corey only made leaderboards in two years of non-team affected stats, OBP (4th and 5th). While they were good years, the fact that he was never one of the ten best hitters in the league according to OPS to me suggests that at no point was he dominant.

As much as I hate looking at RBIs, they do imply he wasn't even the best hitter on his team for any stretch of time (if he was only batting-in 60-70 runs a year), chances are he was hitting 2nd or 6th or something. The one gold glove would also suggest that while his fielding was very good, it isn't something he'd be remembered for.

But then, if you feel he deserves it, put him in. If you want to look back in 10 years and have Koskie as one of the greats (he may well have been to you) then you should put him in.

That seals it. He was never really better than 3rd or 4th best hitter on the team. Thanks for the quality reply. He will always have a special place in my heart for being so consistent. He also outplayed his ratings every year.

Cant see how he makes it with a lifetime line of: .288, 207 HR, 836 RBI and 1620 hits.
Despite being rated an A at defense, unless you're an Ozzie Smith, those offensive numbers mean squat. Nevermind the HOF, I'm skeptical that he's worthy of his number being retired by the Twins or Orioles.

I would say no, he doesn't even have 2000 hits, only made 1 All-Star game, won 1 gold glove, and hasn't made an appearance on the leaders board in 5 seasons. But if you were thinking of putting him in I'd look to see if he really dominated his position for a considerable amount of time

I hope that Koskie has a future in broadcasting, because with those numbers he won't have a future in Cooperstown.
