Moved to OOTP5, talent ratings blank
My guy was 4.5 star SS who was 21 (drafted HS, easy level) and just made it to the bigs in ITP. I moved the .lg folder to OOTP5 and the guy showed up as a one star prospect, whose talent ratings were all blank! Regular ratings (numbers) were fine. Everyone else on the team had normal talent ratings, but not my player. After a year or so, he had withered from contact 5 to contact 3. AAA didn't help as his ratings kept falling.
Anyone else run into this. Did I do something wrong? I can't remember if it was at the end of the season or not. Thanks for any suggestions. |

The "talent" ratings in ITP are "similar" to what will be in v6 so probably won't show up in v5.

Is this the reason why my guy turned to garbage?
Has anyone had normal results porting their guy into OOTP? Just wondering if it is a lost cause or if I'm just doing something wrong. Thanks! jasons957 |

I noticed the talet ratings came over as blank also. Thats why I havent really done anything as far as moving them back and forth. I guess moving them back and forth for purposes of just looking at stuff (except the talent ratings) is cool, but Im still not entirely sure what the long term effects of continually copying/pasting back and forth, plus simming, is going to have.

I was under the impression that the games were totally compatible. Is that not true?

I'm going to try again, but move my guy after 2 years of MLB experience. My last guy was just breaking in and 'died off'. If anyone has other results than their guy dying off, please post.
The reason I'm doing it is to have total control over my guy. At least as long as I can afford him. From what it seems, the lack of ratings makes them go in the tank in a short amount of time. I guess I just need to do use the OOTP editor. |

I have never simmed a game in OOTP but do often open it to look at stats and once or twice to make a trade. I even traded myself in one game where I was stuck behind several players and mired in AAA with an ERA under 3 and all my stats maxed at age 25. I did wind up making both teams better in the process so I dont concider it cheeting to do that.

I have never had any problem with opening up the league in OOTP5 and making some changes and then copying the league back to ITP. I often do this to correct the capitalzation of players names (one of my pet peeves), and I have also did this to expand a league twice once for the 1998 expansion (imported a 1995 league) and again in 2010 since it started to look like alot of players where being held back by the lack of playing opprotunities.

I actually posted about this along time ago. Shortly after ITP came out. I forget where but all I said basically is that your league transfers over with the exception of your created players talent ratings. Thats about it. Plain and simple. The league will continue as usual with the exception that your created player will soon decay and die. I transferred over a league where my player was in his prime and hall of famed bound. But, with no talent ratings he played in 20 games, and was let go to FA. All because he had no talent ratings. But you can feel free to sim as far ahead with the league as you want. Just remember your player will soon die!( In cyber space that is
) So what I recommended was that if you do plan on tranfering your file. Do it at the end of your career so that it doesn't hurt as badly.
