When managing a game I keep seeing the play by play credit a player with an RBI but the boxscore and stats for the player do not credit the player with an RBI.
I think I've narrowed it down to a certain situation. If I have a runner on second and the batter gets a single and the runner tries to score from second and the outfielder attempts to throw him out at the plate and he make an error on the throw, the pbp says batter gets an RBI single even though its not recording it that way. The same thing happens if there is a man on first and the batter hits a double ect ect.. In real-life I believe it is how the scorekeeper scores it, so this isn't like a gamebreaker to me. I look at it like the commentator for the game says its one thing but the scorekeeper say its another which I see happen in real life. I just thought you would want to know. |

Actually the box score has it correct. If the runner is only safe at the plate because of an error on the throw there should be no RBI, the run scored because of the error, not because of the batted ball. So the PbP would be wrong, not the box score/stats.
